Ace High running in the next at Randwick. Steps up to the 1600 here ahead of his tilt at the Cups. Will be interesting to see how he runs...5.70 the plc is ok actually.

Ace High says ‘Hello’ Wadda. Cracking run, hope you got a bit on the place. Quinella with Unforgotten paid $50.

No unfortunately my ladbrokes account is not operating today and too many people at our local TAB. So im staying home and watching.

What a great win DZ good pick! Yes we had the quinella!! Ace is just saying hello at the 1600.....from barrier 15......ive been on hime for the Caulfield Cup since March. His odds will tumble in after that run. Was 21s.

Humidor wins!  Great ride by Damian Lane and Darren Weir gets another one.

2nd highest rated horse in the race so we had the info.  Wasn't on it myself but I appreciate class.  Kementari unlucky whilst Happy Clapper was never it it.  Vega Magic wasn't far away either.

Kings will Dream ran another eye-catching run ... Black Heart Bart & Oregan's Day were close up as well.

But it was the ride of the day by Damian Lane.  On the fence for nearly the whole race.  Kudos.

Got into the finish again but 4th this time ... It's the best maiden by a good margin but the connections have to keep running the horse in black-type events (at least for the next 2 or 3 months)

There's a number of good 3yo fillies about though so the pattern could continue for Oohood.  A must for exotics going forward,  all the same.

Well, the first day of the Spring Carnival wasn’t too bad. Some great racing and expected to get better as we near the big ones. Small profit today after backing Unforgotten.

A few horses to follow that didn’t salute today from my point of view.

Kaepernick

Kementari

Ace High

Kings Will Dream

Seabrook

Winners from today that could play a massive part in the Spring.

Unforgotten

Ellicazoom

Redzel

Interested to read your suggestions.

....dont forget Humidor! (where did it come from indeed!)....was nowhere at the 400.

.....or just follow Darren Weir!!

Im not kidding....how many winners did he have in Morphetville today? Wins the first Grp 1 of the season. I think we are witnessing the Winx of horse trainers in our time. I will now be forcing myself to check all his runners in each and every race in Melbourne and Adelaide.

5 winners in Melbourne

1 winner and 2 seconds Adelaide

Oliver said the rain took the edge of Vega Magic and helped a few others. Good odds on Vega next time.

Damien Lane got a 10 race suspension for causing interference at the 150m mark in the Memsie.

If you join up at Racenet.com Wadda you can Blackbook horses,  trainers and/or jockeys and then Racenet will alert you with an email of your Blackbook runners,  trainers or jockeys on a daily basis.

I've blackbooked a number of horses as well as Weir,  Gai & the Hayes partnership.  I'm going to add James Cummings and Chris Waller and will probably add a few jockeys.

It's an excellent aid for Saturday's especially.because Racenet does all the work for you  Racenet.com (Blackbook)

@binman   &

Australian Group & Listed Races

I'll post up some videos of the feature races from the weekend when they are uploaded.

Racing at Sha Tin tomorrow and the free-to-air racing station is covering the first meeting of the new season up there.  Zac Purton is definitely worth following especially with Joao Moreira now based in Japan.  Zac is on a number of the fancied runners tomorrow.

For those who are looking for a bit of a flutter today at Sha Tin,  go here for the tips from the experts

I've got one of the later races picked out for a trifecta and might have a small skinny quaddie as well.  Here's the Racenet.com form guide for Sha Tin today

The free-to-air station (68 or 78) is covering the meeting today from about 2.45pm.

Network 10 have secured the rights to the Melbourne Cup Carnival (the 4 meetings) ... $100Million over 5 years (2019 - 2023)

Racing.com retains the rights to broadcast the races on the 4 days on FTA 68 & 78 as well as on the app.

I'd forgotten that Network 10 had previously had the rights from 1978 through to 2001.  The 7Network will still provide coverage for the other major race days by the looks of it.

Good field DZ ... at least 6 winning chances and even without the odds available,  a good betting race.  Sunlight's trainer Tony McEvoy was saying that the horse might be looking for a bit further in it's 3YO year.  Hasn't shown the same brilliant speed in it's 2 runs so 1400m or even 1600m might suit going forward.

Graff might start favourite though ... and Sunlight,  Long Leaf,  Santos,  Lean Mean Machine,  Zousain,  Sandbar & Performer all have claims.   One for the exotics you'd reckon.

Was funny day with a mixture of long odds winners and a few shorties. Ended up having a good day after an average start and some big hits on Vega Magic and Voodoo Lad who i thought would smash them. No idea what happened to Jameh - who i also took a big hit on!

I backed Redzel who was brilliant. Drifted too so happy with the odds. First time i've backed it.

I um and ahhed on who to back against Le Romain, swinging back and forth between Coming Through and Dixie Blossoms. Landed on Coming through, had a saver on Dixie and took them in the quin, which i thought i had snagged. Got Unforgotten and then pure elation and only just realised that was four Sydney winners in a row. Should have all upped!

I backed Lite in Veins and thought it might win mid race. Win only unfortunately, though the Sportsbet (and Bet Easy) deal of 50 back for 2nd or 3rd is a great offer. Got three of those back for the day. Snagged a couple of winners at Caulfield  so a profit on the day - though not as huge as all the winners might suggest. We bet in every Sydney and Melbourne race so plenty of losers too.

The WA 'raiders' are on their way East ...

Quote

POUNAMU HEADS WA CONTINGENT IN CUPS NOMS

A quartet of WA horses were among the Caulfield Cup and Melbourne Cup nominations released last week.

Trap For Fools,  Pounamu & Material Man remain in contention for the $7 million Group I Melbourne Cup (3200m) at Flemington on November 6 while the same trio plus Samovare have been entered for the $5 million Group I Caulfield Cup (2400m) on October 20.

Trap For Fools was successful at Moonee Valley last start and returns to the track this Saturday for a 2040m open handicap while last season’s

Group I Kingston Town Classic (1800m) winner Pounamu and Group II Perth Cup (2400m) winner Material Man are set to make their Melbourne debuts in Saturday week’s Group I Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) at Flemington.

In other news ... it's very unfortunate but Sunlight is out of 'The Run to the Rose' with an elevated temperature - latest odds  ...

Ok ive got an observation......

Winx is in the Makbe Diva Stakes @1.33 but also in the George Main Stakes @ 1.15 both on the same day 15th September. I know she probably could run in and win both, but its unlikely. Several other horses have nominated for both including Humidor who is $3.50 in the Makbe Diva and $17 in the George Main. So im guessing that means that Winx will most likely run in the George Main and Humidor will run outright favourite in the Makbe Diva and thus end up being shorter than 3.50.

Worth an each way flutter for mine and like you said Macca... definitely a race for the exotics.

Boxing 5 in trifecta's is going to my go for the feature events throughout the Spring DZ ... and with that sort of bet in the big races one doesn't have to think about it all too much - I just cross fingers that the right configuration salutes.  I do like Santos' chances of getting into the finish.  Long Leaf has fabulous closing speed as well ... 10-1 is slightly overs in my book.  A good betting race,  that's for sure.

One less class runner to worry about Wadda,  you're right.  Sunlight will be back soon enough but I reckon she might need it a bit longer now.  The Golden Rose over 1400m & The Thousand Guineas over 1600m may well be her target races.   A favourite of mine obviously.

My Racenet.com Blackbook is getting awfully full right now ... I do like Pounamu's chances at Flemington in the right race (1800m+) but Material Man might be the one to shine.   Ran a very slick 1400m time at Belmont 3 starts back in a Stakes race so the mile races for the horse could be the go (at odds)  Exotics definitely.
