I’ll give 100/1 for Hartnell if you like Wadda?. I wonder why they chose not to run him on Saturday.

To be honest im not really a Hartnell fan and he probably wont win. I just thought i noticed something different about his run. He is a class horse.

Im still on Vega Magic, even though the bookies are taking him on a bit they said today. We also know why hes called Vega now! :)

Edit: The odds posted by Macca were prior to acceptances so maybe the betting was kept safe with Hartnell.

Ah yeah, Hartnell is not in the final field. Just saw that.

I want at least 500 then DZ!

Ha Ha. So @Macca beat me to Seabrook, Voodoo was a safe choice for me too but you’ve gone bang with him. I’ll leave Le Romain for binman, now I have to go back and look some more.

$2.80 is a good price at the moment. This should be a terrific race.

Well i guess your right, but he was sure flying at the end of the the last start Hartnell. Somebody on SEN said Kentamari will not get over being pantsed by Winx and will be unlikely to win.....

I think Le Romain might be a standout winner for a trifecta? Binman will probably best bet him as well! Hi Binman!!

Well it must be true then if 'someone' on SEN said so Wadda ?

I wouldn't be counting out Kementari although it's up against some gun runners on Saturday - particularly Vega Magic & Happy Clapper.  Gator is convinced that the 3 will run the trifecta and nothing else can win.

Well thats what i thought Macca! Honestly, do people actually think horses have a human psyche? I just thought that was such an odd thing to say...."He was backed to beat Winx, but got smashed.....he wont get over that." ?

There would be a stack of horses that have won decent races after being beaten by Winx.  'Someone' adding to the Winx storyline for the sake of it,  me thinks.

Happy Clapper,  Le Romain,  Hartnell,  Humidor have all won Group 1's after being beaten by Winx.  And there would be others.

Best Bet From Royal Randwick

Race 7 - 3:50PM BISLEY WORKWEAR CHELMSFORD STAKES (1600 METRES)

Number 15 Unforgotten   $3.80 TAB

The mare’s late closing sectionals behind Winx were outstanding last start. Drawn well and although it’s a big enough field I believe there are only a few with a winning hope. She’s a pretty good mare and she rates on top for me.

Ok, so our Best so far are.....

Caulfield Race 6  No.6 Seabrook  $6.00

Royal Randwick Race 7  No 15 Unforgotten  $3.80

Caulfield: Race 8 No 3  Voodoo Lad $3.50

Those 3 combinations will snare you around 80/1 depending on whom you are placing a bet with. Dont forget as we get into spring the place bets really come into play with the bigger odds.

We await the mighty Binmans selections......Go Dees

Better standard of horse running around for us this week Wadda ... and as you have noted previously,  decent odds for those good horses because of the quality of fields.

The latest sees 6.50 available on Laddies for Seabrook,  4.50 for Unforgotten & 3.70 for Voodoo Lad.  I just put on our 3 in an all-up and got 86-1.  Will go again with all 4 with BM's choice.  200-1 for 4 high quality thorougbreds?

We are going to land one sooner or later but the collects can happen if we use the horses individually.

My best on what might be a good day for favorites is Jaahmeh. Race 1 no 3 Caulfield.

In a small field with only one orher realustic chance, red alto, 2.20 is terrific value. Surprised it is not in the red. Though surely will tighten.

Could have gone cega magi or redzel but like races with 8 or less runners. Less chance of trouble in running.

Good work Binman and nice commentary on the Podcast the other night. So you going around the might Le Romain! I think that might be a bit of a show as well....

Ok, so that gives us $179.00 (approx) for your $1.00. Good luck today punters on the first day of Spring!

I have backed agaonst le romain today. Yet to win at 1400 after 6 goes is a worry for a 2.90 fav.

Not much out my way in the Dandenong's but it's threatening ... it will probably be coming in from across your way so I've battened down the hatches!

Was always going to include 'Lite'n In My Veins' in race 4 and it paid off reasonably well in a trifecta ... 'Night's Watch looks a horse though.

Missed on 'Goodfella' at Randwick and I'm kicking myself after following the horse for a bit - had it for 2nd or 3rd but should have boxed 'em.  Paid 1.5k ?

Yes batten them down Macca!

Ive just put our multis on in various combos as i usually do inc places.........Seabrook is up next!

Terrific return and win by Redzel. Kaepernick might be one to follow after a very good second.

Just watched Tunes win his 14th race in a hurdle race at Morphetville. Start 118 today for the 10yr old, that’s durability at its finest.

? ? Tunes!

Oh No, good divvy for Tunes as well, around $5.

Tom Melbourne just did what Tom Melbourne does best......we all know what that is.

Good old Tom ran 2nd again but helped me get the trifecta so good on ya Tom!  Boxed 'em this time - once bitten twice shy!

Thus proving that there is a way to win by including Tom Melbourne in your exotics.  The horse is a very good performer that just can't find the finishing line ahead of the rest.

Ace High running in the next at Randwick. Steps up to the 1600 here ahead of his tilt at the Cups. Will be interesting to see how he runs...5.70 the plc is ok actually.

They weren't catching Native Soldier today ... set a decent pace and then cleared away in the straight.  Very impressive.

Seabrook ran on for 3rd but was never it in - none of the others were.

Edited by Macca

And @Dee Zephyr  comes through with another winner.  Well done!

Top performance by 'Unforgotten' ... big future for the horse.  We might be seeing something special.

  • PREVIEW: Brisbane

And just like that, we’re Narrm again. Even though the annual AFL Sir Doug Nicholls Round which commemorates the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture to our game has been a welcome addition to our calendar for ten years, more lately it has been a portent of tough times ahead for we beleaguered Narrm supporters. Ever since the club broke through for its historic 2021 premiership, this has become a troubling time of the year for the club. For example, it all began when Melbourne rebranded itself as Narrm across the two rounds of the Sir Doug Nicholls Round to become the first club to adopt an Indigenous club name especially for the occasion. It won its first outing under the brand against lowly North Melbourne to go to 10 wins and no losses but not without a struggle or a major injury to  star winger Ed Langdon who broke his ribs and missed several weeks. In the following week, still as Narrm, the team’s 17 game winning streak came to an end at the hands of the Dockers. That came along with more injuries, a plague that remained with them for the remainder of the season until, beset by injuries, the Dees were eliminated from the finals in straight sets. It was even worse last year, when Narrm inexplicably lowered its colours in Perth to the Waalit Marawar Eagles. Oh, the shame of it all! At least this year, if there is a corner to turn around, it has to be in the direction of something better. To that end, I produced a special pre-game chant in the local Narrm language - “nam mi:wi winnamun katjil prolin ambi ngamar thamelin amb” which roughly translated is “every heart beats true for the red and the blue.” >y belief is that if all of the Narrm faithful recite it long enough, then it might prove to be the only way to beat the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba on Sunday. The Lions are coming off a disappointing draw at Marvel Stadium against a North Melbourne team that lacks the ability and know how to win games (except when playing Melbourne). Brisbane are, however, a different kettle of fish at home and have very few positional weaknesses. They are a midfield powerhouse, strong in defence and have plenty of forward options, particularly their small and medium sized players, to kick a winning score this week after the sting of last week’s below par performance.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?
