Class and a high rating wins out again with La Bella Diosa ... of course,  I wasn't on it but the gap in rating to the rest should have been a big pointer even over the shorter distance.  And the Hayes factor.

I’ve missed the early viewing of the racing today thanks to my beautiful wife having our daughter’s new bed delivered.

Conversation went a little something like this.

Me: Hon, there’s someone at the door with a few big boxes.

Wife: Oh, cool....Moo’s new bed is here.

Me: Huh?

Wife: You know, the delivery I’ve been telling you about all week.

Me: Um.... Ok....does assembly come as part of the delivery package?

Wife: Dear God.....maybe I should join Demonland and post our plans so you can read them.??

The wife is definitely a keeper.

No good again with my pick. Maybe a tad too far back but taking nothing away from Fiesta. Was backed with late money also.

yeah, we will blame the ride on that one....hardly the horses fault.....reload on the other 3.

I reckon Oohood needed the run ... first up is always tricky as we don't know how far forward the trainer has the horse.  In the early spring races I much prefer trifectas so as keep it safe if my preferred runner isn't quite ready.

Oohood normally has a bit more closing speed but it took a while for the horse to get going today.  I'm hoping that Sunlight ar least races on the speed for the same sort of reasoning.

Streets of Avalon wins again ... should have followed up but I've had a couple of other collects so can't complain ?

Very spring weather...rain, sun, rain, sun....wind wind..

Gutsy win.  I thought they'd go past her but she fought really really hard to the line.

Got to see the sectionals and last 600m but it's a good horse.  01:04.30 is certainly quick enough for the 1100m with that standard of field.

As an aside,  how good is Nature Strip?

Le Remain up now...........its on Racing NSW live if anyone doesnt have cable

Whoo hooo.....great ride James McDonald

Great win carrying 61kg! Well done Binman...

Money for jam Wadda ... that's 3 collects from 3 for me from our best bets so far (got the trifecta in the Oohood race even though it didn't run a place) What a marvelous idea!

Le Romain is a gun WFA horse.  Group 1 standard,  no doubt.  Carrying weight in these sprint races is overstated for the Champs.

01:08.62 for the 1200m carrying the big weight ... another likely candidate for The Everest.

First up from a spell but well spotted @binman

Hartnell great run first up. Loves that 1400m

Come on Osborne....bring home the bacon for us!

And Egyptian Symbol ridden a treat by Tim Clark ... in classic style takes the lead,  slows them down,  kicks clear then hangs on.  A bit like the Zephyr in its last race ?

Another winner ... well done Wadda - top choice!  The 'A Day at the Races' crew come through with the goods.  3 winners from 4 is par excellence.

Osborne just keeps winning like a good horse ... it will probably do well at a higher level too.

Yep....won like a good thing. I was a bit worried about Land of Plenty.......but why was it such long odds?? It nearly won....i thought it was gonna get Osborne on the line.

Yep 3/4 is a great result for sure. All that practice over winter pays off.

Well thats a group 1 horse stats! Well done everyone.

Jamie Kah rides 4 winners at Morphetville ....shes become very good at that track.

Here is Winx winning today ... 26 in a row with the large majority of those wins being of Group 1 status.  What a champion racehorse.

The best in the World.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
