After having an early look at the Saturday fields there's a few trifecta races that might take the fancy - I'm easy on what the preference is because my main aim is going to be the 3 Group 1 races at Sha Tin on Sunday.  Anyway,  here are the 5 races I picked out but there might be a few others that suit

I've marked the Doomben race as my 3rd preference as there are only the 8 runners and therefore the value may not be there.

Hawkesbury  Race 7  Hawkesbury Cup

Morphettville  Race 6  City of Adelaide Hcp

Doomben  Race 8  Victory Stakes

Hawkesbury  Race 5  Hawkesbury Rush

Hawkesbury  Race 6  Godolphin Crown

Racing.com did a segment this morning and identified I Victory on Sunday at Sha Tin as the best horse of the day.

Yeah Ivictory broke the course record for 1200m at its last start at Happy Valley (01.08.52) but ... its up against the Group 1 horses for the first time.  And the Group 1 horses have run similar or better times at Sha Tin.  Some have run around 01.08.00 flat. This is a classic reason why I prefer trifectas.  I get 'em all running around for me! (well,  not all Wadda)

I reckon Ivictory can get into the finish but so can about 4 or 5 other horses (especially Mr Stunning & Beat the Clock)  It should be a cracking race,  all the same.  The Mile race & 2000m Group 1 races on the card have similar back stories.   Here are the 3 races ...

The Champions Mile

The Chairman's Sprint

The Audemars Piguet Qeil Cup

The racing never ends for me ... as of next week Morphettville and Dommben get into full swing and then there's all the big group racing from Europe that starts up next week as well (and that lasts for 4 or 5 months with 1 or 2 Group 1 races every week)  It's good therapy and a good distraction if the footy team isn't traveling well ?

Ok i see what you mean, yes. In the APQC race, Ping Hai Star was identified as pretty damn good and the footage i saw of him was going 2 for 1 strides against the others.

You could give Ladbrokes a call Wadda but Day/Ruffles have blown out in the odds anyway ... the other 3 picks have more relevance and you could add-on to the 3 picks or delete 1 or 2 that don't your fancy.

I got 17-1 (boosted) for the 3 picks at Ladbrokes and I'm happy with that.

Yes i took the 3 picks last night anyway, and threw in Mr Sea Wolf for a plc instead of the golf. 39/1

Ping Hai Star is going to be hard to beat but 'Time Warp' is a proven Group 1 performer & the Japanese runner 'Al Ain' could be thereabouts as well.  And who knows with 'Pakistan Star'?

All 3 big races have a number of top performers engaged.

So our 3 best bets are ...

  • Hawkesbury  Race 6  No.10  Sedanzer  (4.60)
  • Caulfield  Race 5  No.3  William Thomas (3.20)
  • Caulfield  Race 6  No.1  Sunset Watch  (1.95)

That's a tidy 28-1 right there.

So for our Best Bets so far we have:

Caulfield Race 6 No 1 Sunset Watch $2.20

Hawkesbury Race 6. No 10 Sadanza $4.60

Caulfield Race 5. No 3 William Thomas $3.40

Approx 34.40/1

...oops, you beat me to it haha....i calculated the ladbrokes odds.

His best was Race 6 No 8 Schism $3.00 D. Lane

So my selection for the trifecta is Kingsgauard. Will roll along on speed and be hard to get past.

No bets bets, though having looked at race 6 i had a quick glance at some other races at hawksbury. Victorem will be hard to beat i would have thought. And White Moss and Up and rolling will on speed and hard to beat. Both are pretty good value i think.

So our trifecta (Hawkesbury Race 7) reads as ...

  • W/2/3 ... No.2  Equador
  • W/2/3 ... No.6  Mister Sea Wolf
  • W/2/3 ... No.7  Kingsguard
  • 2/3 ........ ?????????????
  • 2/3 ........ ?????????????

Over to you @Dee Zephyr to close the deal.

Sedanzer had a dream run and had clear air but ... needed the run.  Isn't hindsight a wonderful aid?

Not worried im still alive in several multis....now its over to Sunset Watch...

Hmmm, definitely watching the Sunset. Loomed ominously at the top of the straight but didn’t find much. Even the half a million dollar colt (5) couldn’t get into the race. Come on the trifecta!!

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
