The Zephyr at 7.50 for the place ... 'Handsome Thief' & 'El Sicario' scratched which means Milwaukee is now favourite.  The race has got a First4 feel about it with a few of the lightweights now in the betting.

Can Dan deliver a payday for us? ... here is the field again

The scratchings will aid his quest somewhat to break the streak Macca. A lot will need to go right for Dan to salute IMO.

It’s interesting they kept the horse at 1200m, with the way he hit the line I thought a step-up to 1400m would be ideal.

Looking forward to an enjoyable day in front of the box.

Morning punters. Apologies for not putting up my best etc last couple of weeks. Have been flat out Sat mornings. Coincided with a scratchy couple of weeks for me on the punt so i can assure you did not miss much, though my value runner last week was Houtzen (which was just about my only winner).

Another tough day in sydney. But big fields mean good vale so fingers crossed. So here are my tips, all at Randwick

Best bet: Race 2  no 2 Isaurian

Best value:  Race 8  no 10 Aloft

Best longshot: Race 6  n no 10 She’s a Treasure

Good luck on what is really the last day of Autumn for me save a couple of races i like in Morphetville in the next couple of weeks.

Here are the current 'Longines' World's Best Racehorse Rankings (up to April 8th)

Plenty of Australian bred horses on the list and a number of familiar names from Hong Kong ... those who are interested may need to enlarge the page to read with more clarity.  Levendi is the latest Australian horse to make the elite list.

One would think that Winx will be the outright No.1 horse if she wins tomorrow.

Who the hell is Gun Runner!!?

Just noting Jason Jordans best bet at Morphetville is Race 3 No 3 Music Bay 2.80.

Viridine's a very good choice Wadda ... I'm as confident as ever with the 3 picks.  So much so that I just got on a 75-1!  That seems overs for 3 quality thoroughbreds all with excellent current form.

Here are the 3 Best Bets ...

  • Randwick  Race 5  No.1  Viridine  $3.50
  • Randwick  Race 6  No.2  Hiyaam  $5.50
  • Randwick  Race 8  No.1  Almandin $4.20

Now we have Binmans Race 2 Lsaurian  $2.45. That gives us a total of approx 198/1.

Lsaurian Plc $1.20

Viridine  Plc $1.45

Hiyaam Plc $1.85

AlmandinPlc $1.70         Place multi is approx. 5.47/1

Lol, that’s the Australian version.

Gun Runner is American.

If I searched correctly, record stands as

19 Starts- 12-3-2.

I hadn't seen that but have backed it. I think i may have posted this before but Sportsbet have a seemingly standing offer of the first four races money back up to $50 if your horse finished 2-4. It always syd and melb but changes for the third venue. The week it is Morphetville so really getting each way with Music bay in a small field.

I've done the form for Randwick with the thought it will suit horses on the speed and and sitting 2-3 of the fence (so favouring horses from barriers 8-13). It is one reason i also really like Hiyaam.

Good work BM, duly noted.

In terms of trying to guess the pattern of races it is obviously a bit riky if you punt as i do which is putting all bets on at the start of the day. If i get the pattern wrong i struggle. Last week i read it the same and picking Houtzen was a result of that. But it actually ended up playing ok and horses from mid field had their chances and i couldn't sang any more. That said i had remarkable number of seconds last week (across 3 states). Five or six i think from memory.

In an ideal world i would put the first couple on and get a read of the pattern and then adjust selections as required. But my model of punting with a mate doesn't allow that as neither of us can focus on the races enough during the day (other than listening to them) Determining bets between races can be very time consuming, even if you have done the form thoroughly and have narrowed selections down to a handful of chances (which is how i do form)

Oh oh. Fotoo came from last. On the rails! Abort Will Robinson! Unfortunately too late

Caulfield looking a bit gloomy, think its snowing here almost..... Bit of a sprook for 15/Working From Home, the more rain the better apparently. Get out stakes @ Caulfield. 8.00 & 2.70.

Started off with a winner with 'Pure Elation' ... looks a real good horse too.

Dan Zephyr has been scratched due to the state of the track at Caulfield.

WinX just arrived at Randwick.......walked in like she owns the place. Looked cool as.

I'm still going to have a First4 in the race having had a decent look at the field running last night.

Can someone let us know when Viridine finds a way out? Lap full of horse.....just a little annoying sometimes this caper.

What do think about Saint Valorems chances in the race Macca?

I followed the horse last preparation without too much success.

I've got it in for 2nd, 3rd or 4th.

I've marked the 1,  12 & 15 on top.

Hiyaam looked home for a moment there ... ran a race record but the winner too good.  Both horses were impressive.

So Bowman stitches us up twice ... that was nice of him!

In the first 4 races, the winning jockeys in Adelaide have gone H Coffey/J Kah/H Coffey/ J Kah.

Both ride decent chances in the next.

Nothing will ever beat WinXXX. Shes number 1...Suck it up Gun Runner.

What a horse!  Cruised up and then went whoosho

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

  • POSTGAME: Sydney

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.

  • CASEY: Northern Bullants

The Casey Demons travelled to a windy Cramer Street, Preston yesterday and blew the Northern Bullants off the ground for three quarters before shutting up shop in the final term, coasting to a much-needed 71-point victory after leading by almost 15 goals at one stage. It was a pleasing performance that revived the Demons’ prospects for the 2025 season but, at the same time, very little can be taken from the game because of the weak opposition. These days, the Bullants are little more than road kill. The once proud club, situated behind the Preston Market in a now culturally diverse area, is currently facing significant financial and on-field challenges, having failed to secure a win to date in 2025.

  • GAMEDAY: Sydney

It’s Game Day, and the Demons have a golden opportunity to build on last week’s stirring win by toppling Sydney at the MCG. A victory today would keep them firmly in the hunt for a finals spot and help them stay in touch with the pack chasing a place in the Top 8. Can the Dees make it two in a row and bring down the Swans?
