Best Bet: Rosehill R9 No.5 Osborne Bulls.

Currently a $3 chance with TAB.

Finished off really well last start after being luckless for most part of the straight and should be too good for this lot.

Edit: Kenโ€™s Dream is terrific value at $6 in Race 8 at Caulfield. If they are running on, it could be worth a few bucks.ย

Yeah I like Osborne Bulls as well D77 ... the horse is looking for the 1400m too.ย  I'll be including Ken's Dream in a trifecta as well - thanks for the heads up.ย

There are some wide-open races at Rosehill tomorrow - especially the Vinery Stud Stakes & to a lesser extent the Emancipation Stakes.ย  The Easter Cup at Caulfield is a good betting race as well ... I like those sort of fields being a trifecta punter.ย

They are racing at Oakbank instead of Morphettville tomorrow but I'll be following JJ's tips with interest ... I've figured out a way to use his tips in trifectas by taking his first 2 tips to win (as a base of a 2-4-6 trifecta)

Just a note on the Internationals ... there are no fewer than 7 of 9 in the Group 1 Tancred Stakes to be run tomorrow.ย  I suppose being a $2Million race it's no surprise.ย

2 from France and 1 each from the UK,ย  Ireland,ย  Germany,ย  Japan & New Zealand.ย  The scratching (Libran) is also from Ireland so it could have been 8 from 10.ย

Most or all will probably run against Winx in the $4Million Queen Elizabeth Stakes on the 14th of April.ย

Dan Zephyr is running in the last at Caulfield today. I had no idea until I went through the fields again. Canโ€™t see him winning or even placing to be honest. Change of trainer in the last few months but I see they stuck with their favourite jockey.ย

Good luck to the old boy!

Macca

when you say Internationals do you mean owned from overseas or simply bred overseas.

Not sure but it seems that we don't see as many of the visiting internationals any more. Strange given the ease of transport but I suppose it's the old quarantine problem.

Good luck to the Demon Zephyr !

To be honest I don't know for sure DJ ... for instance,ย  if there is a "Ire" next to the horses name do we assume that the horse was bred overseas?ย  I would have thought yes but it's a good question.ย

Gailo Chop was bred overseas and raced in Europe for its first 12 races ... so there's one.ย  Almandin is another as well as Harlem.ย  These horses have been here for a fair time now so we may be assuming that they are not from overseas.ย

I reckon all the overseas horses currently racing here have slipped under the guard.ย  The fanfare with regards to overseas 'invaders' usually surrounds the Melbourne Cup.ย

As previously stated,ย  I welcome the interest from overseas for a number of reasons.ย  The owners & trainers here might disagree but it should also be noted that the overseas horses are often placed in the hands of the local trainers. ย

It usually means bred overseas. Going back about 10-20ย years Australia/NZย bred topย stayers but the lack of decent staying races in conjunction with the amount of time it took from foal to ready for racing was too long.ย

People want quick returns, hence owners investing in two year olds because they can race when they are two years of age.

Some of the top trainer/ownersย would invest in overseas stayers and bring them to race here as ready made gallopers,ย i.e Waterhouse with Fiorente.ย

Thats my understing anyway fellas.

Edit: Overseas trainers were bringing quality stayers to race here in the Melbourne Cup especially in the last 5-10 years as Macca stated above. Aussie trainers took a backstepย and it was almost aย case of,ย if you canโ€™t beat them, join them.

The Quarantine laws have been relaxed too - the following article (below) is from last year.

Overseas raiders enter quarantine ahead of trip to Melbourne

All will complete two weeks' post-arrival quarantine at the Werribee International Horse Centre, before being cleared to chase Spring Racing Carnival riches.

I've worked a couple of trifectas around the picks D77 ... looking forward to the 2 Group 1's though.ย

For a bit of each way value I like Torvill in the Vinery Stud Stakes (Race 7 Rosehill) and Golden Mane in the Easter Cup (Race 7 Caulfield)

James Jordan's tips have been posted up on Racing.com

Opps i picked D77s pick as my best, my bad.....sorry. It better win then!!

Edit: Great minds think alike D77. Great win.

We should give ourselves an extra win for the strike rate!ย  Well tipped gentlemen.ย

Gailo Chop just found the distance a bit too long.ย  Almandin is a champ though - Sydney Cup is next up for the horse in a couple of weeks.ย  Could be a very good field too with a few of the stayers running into a bit of form.ย  Fanatic & Ormito should be starters.ย

Hiyaam was too good for them in the Vinery.

Awwww, up there...i see. I wonder if theyve been there every week....

Yes we should....you could have backed it twice if you wanted....haha..

Of his first pick, he only missed twice with it win or place. Thats good.

The tips might have been up but I only noticed them after a few races today ... the tips haven't been there previously when I've looked but I stand corrected.ย  Maybe the word is spreading and racing.com have decided to post up his tips.ย

And backing Osborne Bulls twice would have been a great choice Wadda! ... fairly sure 3.50 was available.ย

You cleaned up Wadda although we made real hard work of it.ย  Still, a win is a win is a win.ย

Having a go in Dubai tonight? ha ha

I've got a 4 pick multi going just for an interest bet ... all favs so I hope to get the chance to cash out.ย  The races from Dubai are on the racing channel - just kicked off.ย

Mad doing margin betting on the Dees...........could be anything. More like dodged a bullet, but ill take it.

I must say im impressed with Ladbrokes. The always have odds up very quickly whilst TAB or AFL Crown suspend betting for minutes at a time. I just click on a live bet and they ring me within 5 secs. Its a pretty good service.

In the end (for me at least) it comes down to the ease of navigating the website and the best odds on offer ... the TAB loses out on both fronts Wadda. ย

Sat up and watched half the races from Dubai last night and then watched the rest of the races this morning ... some great racing on offer with a lot of good horses involved.ย  I didn't bet on the races apart from a very small multi that didn't work out.ย  They make a very big deal of it over there.ย

Anyway ... here's a replay of the Dubai World Cup followed by the Derby ...

  • GAMEDAY: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons are back on the road again and this may be the last roll of the dice to get their 2025 season back on track as they take on the Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his teamโ€™s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.ย  Thereโ€™s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.ย  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. Itโ€™s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, itโ€™s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. Itโ€™s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologistย  Itโ€™s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now letโ€™s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmedย the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).ย

  • CASEY: Essendon

Caseyโ€™s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckmanโ€™s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demonsโ€™ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
