Has an injury issue with one of his hands, maybe had an op over the off season. At the Richmond boxing gym the other day he wasn't hitting with his left (?) hand at all. Hoping its minor

He has 4 months to recover until round 1, so surely nothing to worry about.

Anyone know what his contract status and whether the club and he would be interested in signing a long term contract?

If he had been better on the set shots he could easily have gone very close to All Australian this year, improves that area and suddenly he could be a 50 goal a year small forward and that's in a struggling team, as we rise so will he

He is one of the best recruits that we've had in a long time.

He kicked 40.31 this year, which, as you said,is an incredibly high number of scoring shots for a small forward in a poor team.

Compare that to some of the best small forwards in the competition during the season (no finals):

Jeff Garlett: 40.31=71 scoring shots

Chad Wingard: 53.27 = 80 scoring shots

Eddie Betts: 58.24 = 82 scoring shots

Hayden Ballantyne: 15.13 (only 15 games, but with that average over 22 games he would've kicked 22.19) = 41 scoring shots

Luke Breust: 45.17= 62 scoring shots

Mark LeCras: 41.25= 66 scoring shots

When you factor in the Inside50 stats for each of these teams, it only makes Garlett's stats more impressive.

If he can sort out his accuracy, he's got the potential to be the most productive small forward in the game.

On the other hand better teams have more options. That's not to downgrade his achievements thought. I thought he made some critical fundamental skill errors too. That dropped chest mark against North in the third (for example). His good is very good but he is inclined to make the rookie mistake.

Could easily have kicked over 50, with the many sitters he missed. With better players around him and knowing our game better, he could have another improved year.

Should be a lot of red faces around here about Jeffy. Some posters not very happy we drafted him but his form of kicking 40 goals three times was compelling. Exactly what we needed and as others have said could have had significantly higher numbers this year.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
