Would anyone have a DVD copy of the 'Opening Ceremony of the 2000 Sydney Olympics' ?

I'm trying to get a copy, but the used DVD's are highway robbery.

cheers, DL

You are one strange cat DL.

Why do you want it?

I just want to re-watch it, & have it in my collection. reminiscing. I think the thing that brought it to mind recently was a show about our aborigines, & the talk went to Midnight oil & their act about reconciliation.

So I decided I'd try to buy a 2nd hand DVD, until I saw they're rare & changing the world for them.

I am pretty sure Midnight Oil were a part of the closing ceremony along with the Reg Mombassa props etc, not the opening ceremony (unless both are included on the DVD?).

Oh geez your right,,, I just assumed without thinking, that it would all be on the DVD. all the ceremony. but I hadn't thought about that.

If there is anyone out there with this DVD, could they let me know for sure, if it contains opening & closing ceremonies?

cheers, DL

Not on youtube?

Not sure 45HG... I'm after a hard copy for my DVD collection.

I did a bit of searching and all reviews indicated that the DVD only covers the opening ceremony (on disc 1) and the athletes parade (disc 2); no closing ceremony footage. Also, it was filmed in 4:3 format and not widescreen which was a pretty dumb move.

The opening and closing ceremonies I can understand, pretty spectacular.

But the athletes parade? Can't imagine watching that too many times over... "And here come Angola, don't they look smashing..."

not interested in the parades at all, or the athletes.

Only the opening ceremony, which I was so so proud of, & with Cathy. & would also like the closing ceremony as well with the artists onstage, 'the Oils' etc.

I'm not looking for a youtube. I'm was hoping to get opening & closings; but now after seeing the Thorpe interview, I also want the swim teams highlights, & Cathy too.

the Oils are something else.

seeing that makes me proud to be a member of this continent.

careful there jazza. watching grass grow and thinking at the same time can be very bad for your health

best to do one thing at a time and leave the multi-tasking to the womenfolk

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
