Think i said in another thread that I hope part of Crossys agreement with the MFC was he moves into our coaching staff upon retirement

It wasn't.

I'm sure there was an interview with either Roos or Cross where they spoke about moving him into coaching or player development once he decides to call it a day.

I think Crossy has a stronger leaning toward sport science, so I believe the club will look to support that interest. Not looking to get into coaching at this stage.

Either way, definitely someone we should hold on to as we establish our new culture. I think he feels indebted to us for taking him in when most other clubs passed. Boy it couldn't be further from the truth.. he's fast becoming my favorite player.

Kirk is said to be doing well in his role as an assistant at Fremantle under Roosy's mate Rossy Lyon. The connections are all there.

I liked the way Kirk played the game - he was a clever footballer and off the field he comes across as clever, articulate and intelligent which means that he has some of the ingredients to do well as a modern day coach.

His immaculate Brighton Grammar hair may also get the attention of certain players when he is talking to them

I know the family.

According to Cross, Roos said he wanted to give him a 2 year contract, but the board wouldn't sign off on it, presumably gunshy after contracts like those given to Byrnes and Pedersen, etc.

So Cross is on a 1 year contract for now.

It's likely he'll get a new one, and likely he could become an assistant, or more likely a member of the fitness or "high performance" staff, following his playing days, but none of it is set in stone yet.

Thanks for the info, Machsy. He's been a tremendous import - his commitment to the Dees, after a career as a Bulldog, is incredible.

Great to hear. Roos just has an immaculate eye for talent. Cross should easily be able to go until the end of next year and Roos saw that. Can't blame the board though, given some of the ludicrous contracts we've signed over the years that proved duds.

Sincerely hope the guy is in for a nice pay rise next season because he plays with more conviction than 90℅ of the players on our list.

Definitely deserve another year based on current form & leadership.

Is certainly filling in the massive void left by the premature departure of Junior.

Welcome back Ben Hur. I can see you still you haven't managed to polish out that massive chip on your shoulder while you were away.

It is obvious that Kirk will be the successor. For the record, I picked Kirk as the man as soon as Roos was elected.

However, I am starting to think our rise will happen rather quickly, and as soon as Roos gets a sniff of a finals campaign, he will find it hard to pass the team over to Kirk.

Claiming you were right already. That is a BS.

For the record, I don't believe it until I see it.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
