WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRISTIAN SALEM

Roos might have to play Salem earlier than he wants to. We've got quite a few on our list who still need to prove themselves and if you couple that with the usual run of injuries, I'm tipping he'll debut quite early (round 6? 8?)

Don't reckon it'll hurt Christian either if he's used properly (and you'd reckon Roos will know how to use a young draftee properly) Perhaps as the sub for 3 or 4 games? Running off half back? In principle, I agree with Roos' stance but we don't have the same structure as the good teams - we're miles off. If Salem doesn't play at all in the seniors this season, I'll be quite surprised.

He's got a bit of talent and he'll probably force his way into the side. It's more about who'll keep him out.

I'd like to see Salem’s Revenge taken on $AUDcully in the Rnd 21 clash... later this season.

Where is Byron Pickett when you need him....

I think you are right 'Macca', the kid has got a bit of talent and uses the ball well.

My only concern is that Salem has a chance to develop properly .

If this doesn't happen then the discussion around Salem could easily turn into a Witch hunt.

I agree with your comment in spirit.

I dunno, but I hope he gets a good chance this year. I went to training twice this week and he appears to be not partaking in some of the main drills, but what I have seen him do has been impressive

  • AFLW REPORT: West Coast

Melbourne’s response to last week’s heartbreak was emphatic, as the Demons delivered a statement win over West Coast at a windswept Casey Fields. All of the pre-match hype surrounded the coach’s box matchup of Mick Stinear up against his apprentice, Daisy Pearce along with the gloomy weather forecast. In the end, it was less about tactical chess and more about Melbourne’s relentless execution. With rain looming, the DeeArmy and early birds snapped up the best undercover viewing spots.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: West Coast

Epic battle alert.  This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coach’s showdown pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% win rate) against his protégé Daisy Pearce (16 games, 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisy’s record doesn’t yet reflect her impact — but she’s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Dais’ is mythic.  Like Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill her (sporting metaphor) or be her.  Toothers Daisy Pearce is a role model, someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.
