The 2000 premiership - awarded to us retrospectively?

Featured Replies

As much as i hate the red and black and as much as i would just love to take that premiership off them...i wouldn't want it.

I want to see us win a flag on effort not by default.

i want to beat them outright, no more gifts, time to earn back some respect and pride

They didn't take the 1993 GF off Ess when they were caught and fined for salary cap rorts from 92-96 so their 2000 GF is safe.

Although I think this whole argument is flawed there is also something else to consider:

The way the final system is created, the team that lost to Essendon in the preliminary final has just as much claim to the premiership as the losing GF team. And considering they finished above Melbourne in the home and away (another flawed way to judge teams) they would have a stronger claim.
