i know what Neeld is intending to do.

I question whether he has enough of the right experience.

I think he knows what he's doing, he fixing the culture of the team & list. He's only just started with this last Pre Season.. His inexperience may be with the reactions of the supporters impatience,,, having already been thru so much pain, & also promise of a Starlit future, we have seen the likes of Bennell, Cook, Morton, as well as other more mature players like Moloney, who showed their frustrations & not buying into another change of strategies.

... & then some of the players are told they are a part of the problem & have to change.... well people don't like that sort of truth, in your face truth... especially when they thought they were 'on the right path', 15 months earlier.

... but we can all see, that the young players weren't developing under the old leadership, & the prevailing inept culture. We haven't truly developed many of our kids successfully for 20 yrs. not many. I reckon our stats would be very poor in this area. And all our good players, 'Should' have been better than what they actually were.

so Neeld is on the right path to rectify this, but since after the 2006 season, we the supporters have been terribly stretched with our tolerance.

But the culture has to be fixed up around this place, or we will always be no better than bridesmaids, as a footy club.

Players that:

1) Can play football

2) Aren't completely braindead

3) Give effort

To have more than 5 that have 2 of the three would be a major achievement at this point.

To go to the football sit in my paid seat and watch good football. That is my expectation however, to do this I have to go and watch teams other than the one I pay a membership to.

I used to want Neeld out. I'm beyond that now. I'd just like to know what the fundamental problem is at our club. There is one, I'm sure. I hope Jackson can establish it and then we can all know what we're dealing with. Feels like we're floundering in the dark as supporters at the moment. I didn't bother with membership this year for myself and my son. But as I told the club, if I can see the most basic efforts that we're dealing with the basic issues at the club I'll sign on. I felt bad about it, but right now it just feels like chucking good money after bad. I'm starting to believe Neeld isn't the problem at all. It's something much deeper. I don't watch his press conferences any more. I don't want to be insulted. But I would genuinely like to see him turn it around, because he has taken some massive blows.

To get a real coach who doesn't give up before the game.

I hate how he goes on about experience and games played blah blah blah.

Who cares ? , its like saying well we the younger side so we can never win.

Look at Vineys effort. He dont care hes played under 10 games.

This is well thought out, and I wouldn't disagree with any of it. But the situation is more complicated, because you can't take as long as you want to do the job. If the average career for a player is 5 years, our list will be completely changed in 5-7 years. So are we looking at doing something with at least part of the current list, or do we tell supporters they have to wait 5-7 years for the new culture to be established - it really is a complex situation. And of course, each year that we spend fixing the culture and practising incomprehensible game plans, the club gets deeper in debt and closer to being merged or moved.

In another thread someone compared MN to a builder, who has stripped out the old plaster but is just getting started on the rebuild. And that's a fair analogy. But to take it a bit further, at least the owners have plans, and a timeframe for the rebuild, and they know what they'll have when the job's finished.

That's what I'd like to see - plans, a timeframe and a target.

I wondering if there is a split in the footy dept? something doesn't seem quite right & we were pathetic at the start of the game, like they were distracted. I hope no one is getting into the players ears with divisive talk.

If Neeld was the problem I would expect that Craig & the other footy dept members would have done something to fix the issue, thru the board?

This doesn't seem to be it, so I can only think its either players not buying into the club itself,,, or the gamestyle is beyond them,, or they don't

believe in it? (unprofessional)?

we are all getting tired of being kept in the dark. We need to know, 'Something' about what is an explanation of why the players are going about it the way they are?

thats all for now, an explanation, something to grasp hold of to make some sense of what appears like a disaster. but I've been around long enough not to grasp at straws, but we need something of sense, to understand what is going on.

I want us to bring back Beamer and a fit Gys so we can at least get 50 possessions a week closer to our opponents.

I then want Riv back as we miss his leadership more than ever. I don't think some people here know how much he was loved by his team mates and how most were devastated at him leaving.

I finally want Jordie Mac to become a tackling beast again. What happened to averaging 7 a game like you did two seasons ago?

Hmm... sounds like I want Dean Bailey back.... and that's saying something

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
