Voss Under Radar

Featured Replies

The Demons cop so much shiite from the media that we are almost used to it but how about this snippet from a MLloyd article

In their last 66 games of home-and-away football, the Lions have won just 18 matches. In that same period, Melbourne has won 19, Port Adelaide 20 and the Bulldogs and Richmond 27.

The media harp on about Melbourne being a perennial crap team and while true for the last 6 years we have outperformed Brisbane. Now its true we have had a lot of first round picks and our hardness has been non-existent but really, Voss went for a failed re-build with Fev and others to try and win a GF in his first year and has done stuff all since. He has failed big time (I don't count a NAB cup win)

We should shout this to media organisations at every opportunity. SHow them up for what they are and the bias they show.

Yep, not even going to bother with comparisons to us as we all know how [censored] we have been, but Michael Voss gets very little attention considering where Brisbane are at. I don't think there is the same culture in rugby league and therefore rugby league states where coaches are under the pump so much, at least not to the same extent as our game, and particularly in Melbourne. Perhaps it's a good thing.

if we roll them today he wont be flying under the radar anymore thats for sure

Will also be a massive pressure release for Neeld and the boys

GO DEMONS

Voss will be unemployed if we beat the lions today, there is no possible way he could keep it

He was scrutinised by Sheahan and Walls the other night.

5th year, the drums are beating.

Neeld has copped more than most and he has really learnt - he gives the media nothing, the players give the media nothing, it's an us versus them mentality.

Almost Northeyesque in its application.

Also the supporters have a completely different mind set on Voss than we do with Neeld.

Voss is their golden boy - its blasphemous to say or think anything bad about him

With all due resects J.....Who cares what Sheahan and Walls said.....Really, the media think they run footy and they can put pressure on coaches who don't have a great team from behind the glass with a beer in hand......They are just blood suckers who wait for the next head to fall.....

If Voss wasn't a legend of their club and was coaching a Victorian team he would be out the door, after winning the NAB cup they would be expecting to play finals, right now they look bottom four.

That's true - not denying that....my focus is that Neeld has 'shut shop' so they're sniffing elsewhere....

I think you will find the AFL launched a tanking investigation on the back of Sheehan, healy and Walls interviewing McLean. SO someone listens to them..

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.
