Jordan Gysberts @North/Werribee

Watching the VFL on abc and I noticed Jordan Gysberts playing for Werribee. I really don't think we will miss this bloke, his kicking is atrocious and lacks any presence at all and he is slow as a snail.

Ugh ... In the same way that we're all waiting to see how our recruits go through the year so should you with Gysberts. The guy has loads of talent and it was a gamble of a trade which could go either way, but I wouldn't judge the success or failure of that gamble on a VFL practice match.

Loads of talent?

Where, in his ego?

The guy was given ample opportunities, but he didn't want to hurt enough.

Great to hear the Brisbane midfield is being smashed up.

26 touches on debut against Geelong, 27 the following week, 2 Rising Star nominations. Enough to tell you he has talent?

Notice I didn't say it was a bad trade or that we should have kept him, but to say the trade of Gysberts for Pederson is a sure win for us is just plain dumb, especially given neither has played a game for their respective new teams.

Talent means bugger all if you don't apply the discipline to it.

Sure he had 2 good games when nobody noticed him.

It means bugger all if you don't develop it either. I would have loved it if Neeld had given Gysberts a bit longer and cracked the whip on him to at least see what he could be. Pederson might end up being great for us, but more than likely he'll be a depth player who plays most weeks at Casey, whereas we had a very talented young mid on our list who could have benefited from a hard coach like Neeld.

But who knows? Maybe his attitude wasn't right, maybe there was personal problems, none of us really know. In the end, it's a shame it didn't work out, and here's hoping we win the gamble.

No loss

No clues.

Let's at least wait half a season before judging, just like we're doing for our own recruits. It's always the clueless who talk in certainties at this stage of the season.

Neeld & Misson already had 12 months with him, long enough to know.

Pederson is not a swap for Gysberts, he fills a hole up forward & can ruck at times.

Whether Pederson succeeds is not related to Gysberts getting the see ya later.

I think he did crack the whip 'stuie' but got no reaction so he was moved on. We just don't have time for these guys if they don't want to put in the work. Good luck to him if he can turn it around, he can accumulate possessions but doesn't hurt when he has the ball. No run and carry and at best average by foot.

We traded Gysberts for Pederson WYL.

I think their success is absolutely relative, that's how you determine the value of a trade.

None of us know that. If that was the reason Neeld moved him on then I don't have a problem with it, as long as all avenues were exhausted. Still think the trade was a gamble, and would rather Neeld toughen up players than ship them out every time.

Gysberts can play but his attitude is poor - things are just 'too hard'

That's how he's always been.

Hahaha yes, cos you've "always" known him.

He may well be serviceable for Norf, but wasn't for us. So I maintain, no loss to us.

i knew you would say that.

We gave Gysberts away. Damaged goods.

If Cam Pederson plays 3 games it is an improvement.

We didn't need Gysberts. Pederson could be most useful.

Yup, struggled in 2012 for various reasons, but still maintain it's a gamble trade, not saying wrong, just a big gamble that we hopefully win.

We've got enough fringe VFL players, we desperately need talented mids and Gys is one of those, yet to be seen if he lives up to his potential but that's how it goes in AFL.

Yep, but won't divulge on a public forum.

With mates like you who needs enemies hey...

stuie, keep fishing, you'll never know.

Haha I don't need to fish, know him through a good mate who went to Yarra Valley with him and think you're talking total BS.

stuie, you were keen to keep Moloney & kept telling us early last season that he'd only had a few bad weeks & would come good.

Sorry, but your judgment on these things isn't the best.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
