International List

Featured Replies

I was just watching one of those draft combine clips and they mentioned that clubs now had an international list which they can have up to 6 international players listed on this.

Does anyone know if we are keen on kick starting this list?

I think you can use one of your rookie spots on an international without drafting them.

Doubt we'd get involved though. I'd love it, but I suspect their view would be that they have to get the natives right before embarking on any special projects.

The Hawks have also taken a promising yound Dubliner :

- I would like to see the Demons trying the young Irishmen, rather than the Hawks/Blues/Pies/Saints/Lions/Swans. Young Irish lads would love to come to the team that Jim Stynes was part of.

I would be happy to see Melbourne try potential players from other codes and countries too.

Any chance we could smuggle an Ivan Drago-style Russian boxer onto the rookie list?

I thing it would be great PR for melbourne to get a couple of internationals on their list, it would help generate a lot more interest in our club overseas as no doubt a few canadians now know one of their own played in our grandfinal and performed well, it does not hurt that these guys are pretty good athletes as well.
