Having a look at the AFL Draft Combine results, his is the top ranked for repeat sprints, has been touted as having elite speed and got 27/30 for the kicking drill. Worth a look?

An incredible athlete but has been warned countlessly by his school coaches to harden up.

He's certainly dropped down the rankings this year, he was looked at as being top 10 but now he will be speculative. "Deers" looks to have the reason why, he is a tall skinny kid. Viney will know a lot more about him and whether he is worth a later pick if available, certainly ticks boxes for us, speed and ball use but you do have to get it to use it.

I dont think he is that speculative, maybe somewhere in the second round, later second round ever

very talented athlete.

has been a very quick kid since day one, being very competitive in a state and national level in athletics in his younger years.

I don't know a lot about his footy, but I've been told he is good.

I think he would be a good get for our pick in the 2nd round (approx pick 26). Assume Viney used at pick 3.

Haynes has the pace and athletic ability. Is a very good kick. Just needs 1 or 2 pre seasons. But has the pace that we need.

I think he would be worth it in the 2nd round and speculative is probably the wrong word, he has a lot of good attributes that could see him being a player. It's our history with tall skinny kids (apart from Flower) that muddies the waters.

At the start of season 2011 had someone told me we would pick up Viney, Toumpas and Haynes this draft I would have been happy with that.

While personally I prefer Sam Colquhoun, on the chance that he's taken before our 1st rookie selection I reckon Haynes would be worth a look. Classy outside mid with line breaking ability. If he could commit to putting on some size in the gym he might be worth a punt in the rookie draft and after the 1st year we can make a call.

I think that's right - more an athlete than a footballer. But a good kid who'd pass on character. Can really run.

He goes to school with Jack Viney - so the club will know his strengths and weaknesses

I'd like to think the club would have an idea of his strengths and weaknesses, regardless of weather Viney went to school with him or not..... It would be a shame, if these decision were left to the opinion of new players.....

Does anybody know if the players not taken in the draft can be drafted in the psd? If they can then i hope he slips to us in the rookie draft.....

I would like to see us rookie him. Around this time last year I was wanting us to pick up Toumpas and Haynes in this draft. Haynes has slipped a bit this year but has a big upside. If he has the work ethic to go with his athleticism then he will make it.

We have Toumpas, lets get Haynes.

You are of course correct ......... but a father (Todd) watching a son and his mates play schoolboy footy over the years ( and attending a few B & Fs etc) should be in a better position to make an assessment of things like consistency and team orientation etc than a recruiter who's only seen him play a couple of representative games and interviewed him once...............

It certainly can't hurt 'hoopla'.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
