The Troy Menzel Thread

Featured Replies

Poor kid. I really feel for him.

Me too. Genetics - what a bastard it can be.

If I were a recruiter, I wouldn't touch a bloke who's done two knees and has a family history of dodgy ligaments before he's 18 no matter how promising a footballer he is.

Menzel junior gets knee OK

"Troy strained his left posterior cruciate ligament, so he'll undertake an eight- to 12-week rehabilitation program," Menzel's manager Justin Reid of Elite Sports Properties said.

I must admit I was keen at first and even after I discovered he'd had LARS surgery I wasn't put off him but I've now had the opportunity of seeing some vision of him in action including in the West Adelaide v Central Districts qualifying final which was shown in replay the other night on ABC1 and I think I'll pass. He was injured halfway through the last quarter and managed only four touches for the day (including one goal). From what I can see he's pretty hot and cold and even if he has the capacity to be a champion, he's not the type I think we can accept the risk involved in taking him. I reckon one of the season's leading clubs will get him late in round 1.

It is only a comparison but lots of people thought Shaun Higgins was the next big thing 2 years ago, look what degenerating reoccurring injuries can do...... Cooney brownlow to bust nearly.

Intersting comments from doctor, re using LARS when required, could easily get 10 years over 12-13 year period.

Medical report on him being scrutinised by clubs, if available do we take him at 13 (a bargain by all accounts if we got 10 playing years out of him) or pass. As stated Selwood and Judd dropped due to injury concerns. Others had concerns and they proved true...

At pick 13, I would hope we took the punt if he is as highly rated as indicated here.

Imagine having all your possible future employers poking around at your body, must be 20 blokes around him

Can count 2 if not 3 Melbourne officials in that bunch. hmm
