Wanted to know if any other Deelanders are disappointed over the rivalry we had building with the Tiges being all but gone.

Two clubs down and out for a long time and at similar stages of development had had some cracking games in recent years and were looking to be on similar trajectories. It is plain for all to see that Richmond have continued to move forward whilst we for a number of reasons have gone backwards.

The spirit in this matchup has not been there this year, and when compared to the Richmond v North game today, pales in comparison.

Not the worst thing to have happened, but disappointing nonetheless. Am I alone or overthinking this?

Nah mate I really liked the comparison with the tigers over the last couple of years. I have a few tiger supporters as mates and they always looked forward to us vs them. Now those tigers always talk to me about melbourne with confusion as to what the hell has happened and I can't really give them a answer.

All I could think of while watching that game today was "wouldn't it be great to be supporting either of these teams today, who are actually playing with a bit of ticker".

It was a great game played with some real intensiity. We are more likely to have a rivarly with one of the expansion teams, or will they fly past us too?

I gather you didn't see the Richmond/Gold Coast game last week. That was one of the worst cases of rolling over I have ever seen. They might have played with "ticker" today, but let's not get too carried away with the generalising; Richmond supporters still have plenty to worry about.

nobody considers themselves to have a rivalry with us because nobody respects us enough

They like us too much, because we're nice, & because most feel sorry for us.

They don't hate us, because they Don't FEAR US.

Don't be fooled - Richmond aren't that far ahead of us, and we aren't that far behind the pack.

It always seems more pronounced than it really is, and that's even more exaggerated because it has taken us longer than it should to climb out of the mire.

The end comes quickly, and it works the same going the other way.

Don't overthink things.

my housemates are richmond fans and we used to fly down from the gc to go to the games and it was a bit of a big deal, cartons on the line not to mention the bragging rights and the accompanied belief that we would win a flag first...this year they haven't even given me any crap about the state of affairs and that is so much worse

lost interest in this season in rnd 5 after the st kilda game, tried to watch the port game twice and i keep turning it off or changing browser windows

bring on next year, or maybe the year after or...bring on the mythical "one day"

The tigers were down A LOT longer than we were. Their last finals series was 2002 we were playing in the finals 2006.

They've been rebuilding a lot longer than us and maybe now we are having a year a bit like they did when Hardwick first took over.

And now they are doing OK not that great though so hopefully we follow this but take it one better.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
