Reality check.

Funny thing about all the fuss. Everyone is so upset about our winless start to the season, but how many of those games were we supposed to win? I'm sure I'm not tho only one who had us down for one certain win (Brisbane) and a couple of maybes depending on how the team had come along. It's not like we've been playing against the worst teams in the league (Brisbane aside). I know at least one poster started a thread about the possibility of being 0-9 when the draw came out.

How many of you can say that they are honestly surprised by the losses so far (barring round 1)?

I think it's the lack of competitiveness.

Look, I think we could have been 2-6, with Brisbane and either Richmond or the Dogs.

I read recently a quote by Helen Keller which goes.

"Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved." (I actually tried to tweet it to Neeldy I just hope it worked lol)

I believe we are still going through the trial and suffering and I am hoping we can get to the success bit soon, When we do start getting there the sweetness of a victory (any victory) will be so great. I like most of you am getting impatient and sick of saying the next game will be better but I am a realist about couple of things, I am a footy tragic and I still love and have hope for the MFC.

its not the losses its the lack of apparent effort and heart. Things will improve.

Well there must be some fantastically strong souls around the MFC because we've been going through "trial and suffering' for about 50 years.

If we were playing like we should be there is absolutely no reason not to pencil in at least 10 wins for the year. This crap was with us for most of last season and we did get 8 wins.

It is still a crap reality...this list is better than that.

The reality is what you see is what you get.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
