If you watch the incident again when Rohan is 5 metres from the ball , Thomas is 10 metres away but coming at a rate of knots . Thomas had the option of corralling him or tackling him .

You and I are looking at the incident from different viewpoints . We're not going to agree . For what it's worth I reckon we're seeing more of this type of thing because the bump has been virtually outlawed and many tackles are judged to be around the neck (when they often shouldn't be) It's just another example of the flow-on effect .

But , I guarantee many would view this differently if it were a bit closer to home . People are viewing this in too much of an unemotional way . He's a player from Sydney - who cares hey !

The bloke has a got a snapped leg . It will happen again unless they outlaw sliding in with the feet .

OK , the bump has been virtually outlawed and there's too many "Around the necks" paid . Sliding in feet first shouldn't be viewed as something of a "Last bastion" .

I believe that some might be viewing it this way . It's like "They can't do anything anymore , they're turning it into netball" .

Back in the day , if you went in feet first I reckon you would have been reported for unduly rough play . Though the truth is , that back in the day it rarely happened . It was frowned upon .

Anyway Trident , I do see your point of view but it's best we agree to disagree on this occasion .

I do wonder what the AFL will do though . My bet is we will see a rule change soon or perhaps after we see another similar incident .

Edit : Just watched the incident from a different camera angle on "AFL 360" . Looks even worse . Again , it's the act not the intent that concerns me .

I wish our players went in and won the ball like thomas did in that incident.

Thomas went in low trying to protect / win the ball, his eyes never deviate away from the ball.

Rohan at no stage attempts to win the ball rather set his body for a bump which unfortunately for him doesn't eventuate.

Agree with you 100%. No way did Thomas act in a cowardly,unfair manner. Gee, all the guy did was to dive on the ball and get it out to a teammate. Just sheer bad luck for Rohan. Freakish accident.

Or get his hands on the ball first, which he did. Which is what every kid has been taught for 150 years.

I don't even call it a slide. I doubt I've seen a more frivolous charge brought before a tribunal.

Funny how the AFL's MRP wants to punish for the injury now but apparently a few years back Stephen King kicking Jeff White in the head was A.OK!!

AND DANIEL JACKSON gets nothing for knocking Jack Grimes out over the boundary line.
