Are we tanking?

Featured Replies

Ha. Comparing Carlscum to the MFC. They at least know how to win & were always going to recover.

Hide your head in a paper bag if you wish Nasher. This club of ours is in serious trouble.

I knew trying to apply a little rationality and analysis to the inane would be wasted, but you can't blame a man for trying.

But that's just it Nasher. The MFC is not rational...!

Why dont you lend him yours? Its protected you from all manner of awareness in the AFL and media.

Well proven on the wasted front.

The fact is we're one win away from a rosy future. Don't let things get you down, buddy. Look for what's wrong with the place, but don't become overly pessimistic.

The MFC should tank because we suck and we need good new players before we become fitzroy 2

We don't need to.

We are playing badly enough trying to switch to winning the hard ball, & just being responsible for an opponent.

We are struggling enough with these issues alone, & apparently the old school don't like the new hard work ethic being put through the club.

Sorry, which is it? Care to get that right?

We suck.......... OR we should tank......

The 2 are kind of mutually exclusive.

Dumb & lazy older senoior players. spoilt, spoilt, spoilt! & soft.

I hope we are tanking, At least there would be a reason for playing crap football with no heart or intensity.

I think Neeld is rebuilding the list in his own image, and that begins with learning to dominate the contested footy, before they move onto the next facet of the game.

It's not working now, but I think this ignorance of uncontested footy is very intentional.

These games, although worth 4 points, are like practice matches for us where we are working on a certain aspect and getting it right before we move onto the next.

If this is what is happening, it is very different, and it's well beyond me whether it will work or not.

Here's hoping.

It's funny I was just discussing this with my ol man tonight ([censored] making me barrack 4 Melbourne many lean years ago) trying to reason with him as to why Neeld was the right man still after WC game last week. Tonight I couldnt help but agree with him, we were in it yday albeit 1 f'n qtr that cost us dearly, I thought Neeld was testing us and trying to build a resolve in these players, but 4 f's sake, why wouldn't you stem the flow in the 3rd qtr , try to frustrate a 2nd rate team like Richmond which aren't on the improve let me tell you, and perhaps have a sniff at 3qtr time I ask you. I'm concrned this guys tearing us all a new [censored] and it's going to take a Lot longer than 5 yrs to rebuild. I'm sorry guys but I proceeded to go home in the 3rd like most sorrowful MFc supporters soul which I never do to spend more time with my son (the future)! stuff wasting my weekends on this horse [censored]. My messgAe to the players is , get their [censored] togetheer and if they don't it doesn't matter they'll just move to another club and round n round the freakin circus we go.... Local football here I come, Except I'll be there this Sunday

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
