thanks basil. i just want to give you a bit of an insight into the saturday afternoon team. we’re a bunch of unique individuals – malthouse, harley, zempilas, mclachlan and myself. we’re gonna engage with our minds and our hearts. we’re gonna exchange ideas, thoughts and even our energy. and to speak from your heart you need to have courage. you need to be honest and authentic. we’re not always gonna get it right. and sometimes, you’re not going to agree with us. but that’s okay, because just like you we care. just like you, we’re passionate about the game. so if you want to come along for the ride, join us on saturday arvos, because we just love the footy.

haha

Listening to Brad Johnson delivering special comments last night brought home to me two things:

  • if you're not concentrating, when he starts speaking his voice sounds eerily like Eddie McGuire. I kept thinking Eddie was calling the game
  • his comments are not very special. He offers minimal insight.

Richardson and Ling calling Mumfords high contact on Rivers an 'accident'.

Do they know how ridiculous they sound?

So it's either careless or negligent. "Accidental" doesn't enter into it.

Yes exactly, Brad Johnson's comments are just not special

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
