... and I'm perfectly relaxed. But that doesn't mean I need to switch off my [censored]-ometer.

You're enjoying this too much.

So you actually believe someone enquiring whether Scully would be open to discussions and actually going to him with a contract in hand is the same thing. Sorry but my [censored]-o-meter reads high.

You are also one who is very keen to paint Scully as an out and out liar. A snake.

The press has been proven wrong on this very subject at least a half dozen times in the last 10 months. Even their stories lost momentum because it became plainly evident he hadn't signed anything and at best got an offer some time in the last couple of months.

Perhaps you are wrong too RR.

Whether he goes or stays is yet to be revealed, however my [censored]-o-meter blew up with all the crap in the press and has been proven right. I will back it in that Tom has actually been telling the truth. Has not lied to anyone and will make a decision in a months time.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and i respect yours (on occasions :)), however i find it amazing how quickly people are prepared to throw Tom under a bus and not trust that he has been honest (especially when confronted by blokes like Stynes and Lyon).

An approach is an approach is an approach.

The Ox, Barrett, Stevens et al all reported it and have not been proved wrong at all.

In fact, events and comments over the course of 2011 have gone a long way to vindicating them.

And no-one's throwing anyone under a bus. Those involved are doing a fantastic job of managing that feat all by themselves.

This year I've been attacked, ridiculed and even banned for daring to speak up on this issue. And now we have it straight from one of the horse's mouths that some

shenanigans did indeed occur in October last year.

Yet still the charade continues!

To be honest I initially quite enjoyed the jousting in these Scully threads but now it just feels like the twilight zone in here

On one hand ...

I havent been approached

The Age Mar 4 2011.

"Gun Melbourne youngster Tom Scully has emphatically denied he has received an approach from Greater Western Sydney to join the AFL expansion club next season."

on the other hand

Lyon Hunting about 7.35 in

"I dont thtink there's any question that we didnt put something to their management group" refering to messrs Scully and Ward.

He then suggests of course theres no much they can do til seasons end...

WHich of course flies in the face of the Ward ultimatum.

again make of any of this what yo will.

Ox, Barrett & Stevens have been proven wrong. They're all on record saying at one point or another that Scully had already signed. That is clearly not the case as admitted by GWS.

What many are critical of is your absolute willingness to believe tabloid reporters who are paid to write headlines and sell papers over the only person who actually knows what's going on and a person who up until this point had always been held in the highest regard as a footballer and whose integrity was never questioned.

How fickle some people are....

He was approached.

Don't shoot the messenger.

theres far more than just One person who knows whats going on. That only goes to logic.

Its 'What' is known that is the subject of specualtion and debate.

Yeah sorry, poor choice of words there but I think you knew my drift...

You could pretty much summarise all Range Rover's posts in this thread with "la la, talk to the hand, he's lying.".

At least the other Scully sceptics will occasionally offer him the benefit of the doubt.

God I can't wait for the backpedal when Scully signs.

But the question is ... why aren't the Scully fanboys backpedaling NOW, when clearly they should be.

Beyond GrandsonofaGun's novel interpretation of the many guises of the word "approach", where is the comment from Rpfc and co on the Silvagni faux pas?

How does that Simon and Garfunkel song go? "Slip slidin' away! Slip slidin' away! .... You know the nearer your destination the more you're slip slidin' away."

what if he doesnt

what if he doesnt

What if? I make no apology for believing in Tom and give him the benefit of the considerable doubt. If I'm wrong them I'm just wrong. If others are wrong they've burned him at the stake when no crime was committed. I'm quite comfortable here on the moral high ground.

There are quite a few people in this thread who just need to get a life.

FFS, don't you people work/ sleep/ socialise/ eat/ have sex?

Find something else to do and stop preoccupying yourselves with Tom Scully. It's unhealthy and frankly it's pointless.

If he wants to go he will, if he wants to say, he will. At least journalists writing rubbish about it are getting paid for it, you lot are actually just spending your time writing meaningless crap for nothing!

Just a quick question then Nasher if I may send one up to you up there on Mt. Highmoral ...

What do you make of the Silvagni slip up vis-a-vis Scully's 'no approach' presser response?

WTF do you choose to believe every idiot and his dog but not Scully?

It's sick, it really is.

P.S.- I want to punch myself in the face everytime I skim (read: scroll) through any Scully-related thread.

No, the question is why do you Jaded choose to shut your eyes and bury your head in the ground when SOS Silvagni comes out and says what he said?

I hate to say it but for that you probably do deserve to give yourself a quick uppercut

I choose not to spend all day every day fretting about what decision some 19 year old kid is going to make, because I have a life and more important things to worry about.

Put it into perspective for god's sake and stop lying on the floor in the fetal position crying yourself to sleep every night while pulling your hair out and sucking your thumb.

It will all be alright, and even if it's not, you can't do sh*t about it.

Writing 10,000 posts a week about how Scully is a liar, how everyone's rumoured mail must be right despite lack of evidence and chest beating like a trained monkey is not actually helping the situation.

Trengove can see many reasons to stay at Melbourne and I believe that so does Scully. If he chooses to chase after a bigger pay packet than good luck to him, but money does not buy you happiness or success, and Tom will have to live with that for the rest of his career. That is his worry and not yours.

You seem like a sadomasochist in these threads now, RR...

It isn't pleasant.

You don't need me to be persuaded for you to win your argument - you need to wait for the facts.

I have little to report/say on the TTS so I have left it.

You have got your 8th wind from something Silvagni said on Hutchy's Kids show.

You can take that and run with it.

I still believe Tom was telling the truth.

He hasn't signed and we await his decision on a timeframe he decided on - to decide his future.

Get some patience and move on to other topics - they are plenty of other things to talk about - or don't.

But the latter isn't a good look.

Who's fretting or worried? I'm merely asking a question about SOS Silvagni's comments and you're getting in a right tizzy.

Happy to hear your thoughts on the matter but please stick the topic at hand.

Okay so you think SOS is a liar. Fair enough.

My thoughts on the matter is that I DON'T GIVE A CRAP, and it's very sad that you are so engrossed in this whole thing that you're now starting a whole new argument about a comment some nobody made on some silly show a few weeks ago.

So GWS approached Scully's management last year did they? Maybe those are just rumours circulated by management trying to raise Scully's price? or by GWS? or maybe they approached Tom's management and they never told Tom because they knew he didn't want to talk contracts.

OMG GET ME THE HELL OUT OF THIS THREAD NOW!

Yep better exit before you really embarrass yourself.

And just for FYI, here's SOS's wikipedia entry ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Silvagni

I just watched the clip of Silvagni. and for the life of me can see no smoking gun there. For one, he wasn't quite matter of fact at all, but stuttered and stammered as he spat it out. Secondly, he mentioned that without a doubt an approach had been made, but then added the bit about last October as an afterthought. Far as I'm concerned, all that was confirmed through all of this was that an approach had been made, and to avoid criticism about making such an approach mid season, he added the bit about last October as a bit of a safeguard. As Grandson of a Gun alluded to, there is a fair bit here in the semantics. An "approach" to the letter of the law, would include even asking the manager if he woud be interested in a chat. On the other hand, I don't think it is at all outrageous to believe that by "approach" TS was referring to the offer of a contract. Some people want to see the bad side of Tom, and others want to see the good side. We may be naive, and you may be jumping at shadows. But I still see no smoking gun that proves Tom to be a liar, only a kid sticking to a set timeline.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
