I am sure Redleg that if they had used that method we would have been better off.

There was an even simpler method. Pick the most popular selection on Demonland at each round and we would have several more AFL standard players on the list.

It is astounding that a series of "professional" recruiters could get it so badly wrong.

So do you guys know who was the last person to play in a winning VFL and WAFL grand Final teams in the same year?

Which year it was and for which Clubs do he play for?

Sorry but I just pumped as Claremont finished 4 or 5 games clear as minor Premiers and traditionally they beaten us in finals plus the game was played at their home ground.

Stan Heal (1941) played 8 games for Melbourne including the Grand Final win. Stan was rated the third best in the Demons Grand Final victory. One week later he returned to the West and because he only went East because of his service in the Navy (National Service) he was entitled to re-join West Perth and take the place of one of their injured players. West Perth also won their 1941 Grand Final.

Stan Heal was a champion West Perth player who was good enough to play in any league.

Of course Stan Heal. How could I forget it was only 72 years ago.

I Have bigger issues to worry about . My most disliked side is now still in the finals after being gifted a spot and falling in in their last game.

Please Swans do the right thing.

IMO It would be so funny if Carton ends up winning the Flag, poor little Messendon.

Although, I know what you mean as my second most disliked team is still in the Finals and have a home game final. Although my most disliked team has been knocked out already.

(Freo & Collingwood)

But on a lighter note the team I have supported for about 42 years (I have only been around for 45 years myself) is in the Grand Final and could win its first Premiership since 2003. I only been supported the MFC since 1999, when I stop supporting the WCE as a result of the destruction of the WAFL completion.

I really feel for all the long term MFC supporters who may have never seen their Club win a Flag. Although as much as this season really sucks but maybe it was needed to give the Club a real chance at a Grand Final victory within the next five to ten years.

I have watched this year with interest some of our rejects from the last couple of years.

Below is my view which I am not claiming is perfect because I was out of the country a couple of times and may have missed a item or two.

Martin played a couple of games at Brisbane but basically no impact.

Gysberts played a few good games for Werribee but no senior games for North

Morton played a couple of games for WCE with nil impact, little impact for East Perth.

Bennell little impact anywhere but that be harsh as he was out with a knee injury the first half of the year.

Petterd Actually played well for Richmond good pick up by the Tigers.

Cook Vanished without trace

Bate disappeared into the Essendon VFL team without much mention

Maric Vanished without trace

Based on their form only Petterd seems to have been an error.

The rest have performed as they did with the MFC.

Says lots about selection.

IMO they have shown us that development or the lack of it had much to do with these guys non results.

Just bloody poor selections in the first place.

That was also my view on the development / recruiting issue. None have improved elsewhere.

Beamer and Ricky were the best two this year and they didn't play better with their new clubs.

It just reinforces my view that recruiting is the single most damning stuff up.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
