Thanks will give it a try. May come out of retirement, as we will have plenty of spots on the list to fill.

I'm sure you'd have more of a crack than some have this year Redleg!

Im struggling with breakfast today. The news is terrible, madman runs riot with scythe; bodies everywhere, the carnage, the inhumanity!!!

ah well...better late than never ^_^

The departing player list is growing and reference is made to many clubs being interested in the players. We will see what we get in return, if anything.

Interesting Redleg that Gysberts has a year to run on his contract.

So there is an obvious breakdown there.

I thought it was obvious in the first few games he was not in favour

Then Injured and who knows from there.

Apparently a couple of clubs have inquired about him.

Churning our list at the moment is like sellign a house. If you HAVE to you will take a hit. Sometimes you have to, theres no waiting. The alternative is even worse, to hang on to second rate players just because youd be affraid to have to have a fire sale.

Well, we're Melbourne, our whole football existence could be described as living in hell. Its warm there.

Light the fires !!! :)

this phrase has now been officially included in the football bible of quotes.!!

Has it. Well I will take it one week at a time, in future with my quotes.

Apologies in advance for posting Pies paraphernalia.

I'm looking around for TV's. Found this one, some of the comments are priceless.

Toothless Hordes Branded TV

Could anyone from collingwood afford it? do you have a dole check exchange program?

....i think this model should be called "Bogan", not Kogan!!!!!

Why would someone who normally steals a tv, pay for one?

Good that collingwood get cheap tv, no home to put it in tho.. caravan with a generator??

Is it only a Black and white tv :P Bwahahahaa!

Kogan does Bogan! Well done! Now try a fan base that could afford one.

now we know where the baby bonus is going for sure!

$450 could buy that one more tooth you were saving up for this christmas....

Am I correct in saying that it was Pythagorus who came up with the theory that the sum of the salaries of the first three place getters for the Kevin Sheedy Medal was not equal to the salary of the fourth place getter?

If so, it all sounds like Greek to me.

He may have also come up with the the formula for Recruiter's waistlines. that being Waist = Pie Arse Squared !!

Is there a need for those black and white colors a couple of posts ago, on such a refined thread?

Sorry Redleg. Won't happen again.

Sorry Redleg. Won't happen again.

That's ok, we must maintain standards.

Especially on this thread Redleg

especially for those that get it !!

Is it just me tonight BB I am struggling to find a thread that interests me.

Seems we are generating multiple thread that cover the same 2 -3 subjects.

I might have to give Demonland a break it is similar to our season at present.

Old...I think weve enetered that twilight zone that is the EOS. Especially the finals' weeks where theres only so much that can occur as much often included players of the competing teams.

We have what amounts to a leap-liek year occurence whereby no Senior coach is on the block, things remain rather calm and the ususal suspects make a ruckus in the cheap seats.

Its a bit like the 7 stages of grieving. Season ends, there's murmurs, theres rumours and a truck load of speculation. All the "in the knows" come out of the woodwork. Why are they never around much 'during' the season? lol . Some who seldon post suddenly come to life and the rest of us go fishing for the gems. The net is often empty.

Theres a few events of late Im already over. That actually surprises myslef somewhat but theres just no point worrying about so many things is there :)

A hell of a lot of jumping at shadows BB.

The thing that really surprises me is we have had what may have been the worst season in 30 years, this is the sixth bummer in a row.

We clearly have a large number of poor players

And yet people don't want to make changes.

Oh well the racing season is upon us and the NBL is just around the corner

Hopefully they will distract me for a few months.

Have a good night mate

Its been a funny year. A Keating year... lol Very cathartic !!

Not much on the scoreboard as they say , but its been all about what s happening in the rooms this year.

I wasnt concerned before the season started about wins. it wasnt about wins. I know some think in a terribly simplistic way. If we arent winning were losing. A certain reality to that but irrelevent to what this season was about. Never was about wins. It was about finding out about the players. This has been done. Now the next phase. This is actually exciting. Something REAL Something progressive.

ahhh Progress theres something different

Pies will lose Maxwell and maybe Tarrant next game through the MRP. If Johnson got a week, Maxwell has to at a minimum. Off the ball to the face and left the ground bleeding. Tarrant gave Buddy a good one to the ribs from behind and should also get at least a week.

I am not homophobic, but does there need to be an Ad on the Demonland Melbourne Demons Forum page at the top headed " Meet Gay Men Online". There are young kids on Demonland and I think it is pretty ordinary. It seems to be alternating. Now it says meet Asian Women For Love Online. Gee.

I can't tell if you're being serious or not Redleg. Are you really getting those ads?

  • GAMEDAY: Essendon

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 05

Gather Round is here, kicking off with a Thursday night blockbuster as Adelaide faces Geelong. The Crows will be out for redemption after a controversial loss last week. Saturday starts with the Magpies taking on the Swans. Collingwood will be eager to cement their spot in the top eight, while Sydney is hot on their heels. In the Barossa Valley, two rising sides go head-to-head in a fascinating battle to prove they're the real deal. Later, Carlton and West Coast face off at Adelaide Oval, both desperate to notch their first win of the season. The action then shifts to Norwood, where the undefeated Lions will aim to keep their streak alive against the Bulldogs. Sunday’s games begin in the Barossa with Richmond up against Fremantle. In Norwood, the Saints will be looking to take a scalp when they come up against the Giants. The round concludes with a fiery rematch of last year's semi-final, as the Hawks seek revenge for their narrow loss to Port Adelaide. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.
