Hi folks,

Can anyone explain to me why the MRP didn't review the incident in the second half of the match where Jones went for the mark and once the ball was out of the vicinity the player behind came in and elbowed him in the back of the head? Not only did he not get a free kick but it was ugly from the Essendon player and I reckon deserved at least a week. It put Jones down for a little while and if he had not have been tougher might have caused more of a problem (concussion anyone?!).

I am not at home so cannot you tube the incident to show you what I mean however I will try to later in the week.

It just stinks that you can play the game fair like Trenners and get 3 weeks, but elbow a bloke well and truly late and thats a ok

sick of it!

ps well done on Fri Dees!

I remember thinking there wasn't alot in it but yeh it is frustrating

There was an incident against saints where kosi deliberately fell into

Sylvia with his knees and was definatley worth looking at.

It was a very very poor attempt at a spoil that left Jones dazed and missed the ball by 1/3 metre - I really did expect such a naked attempt to injure a player to be referred.

Take the point that it's history now but sincerely hope I live long enough and gain enough wisdom to understand the reasoning of the Almighty MRP

A week would be over board. He spoiled maybe a split second too late. Should have been a free kick tho... the replay showed direct contact from the elbow to the back of Jonesy's melon. Went straight for the man. Poor Nath, showed great courage though, as always.

On a different note...

When big Mazie Gawn took his huge grab in the last quarter, (and duly sprayed it)... Fletcher smacked him on the nack of the scone for his troubles.

Pretty poor form. But not exactly a shock. And Essendon fans wonder why he's not more highly regarded.

Yeah, I saw that. It wasn't hard, but it was cheap - no surprise from Fletch. I do like watching Fletcher play, but he makes plenty of cheap shots. I bet the number of times he's tripped someone would dwarf the total of the next highest 'tripper'.

I sincerely doubt any of us could live long enough or gain enough wisdom to understand those buffoons mate, even if we lived to be 150.

Looks worse in slow mo IMO, still not great.

Negligent, High and medium impact. I don't make the rules but if there is any consistancy thats at least a few hundred points.

Not much difference in shape and look between Jones's head and the ball... Easily mistaken... perfect spoil really if you swap the two. :P

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
