Congrats to Melbourne supporter, Mr Michael Andrew

Featured Replies

Guys, I read this today in the newspaper....we really do have some influential supporters. Congrats to Mr Andrew. Sounds like he was a pretty darn good sportsman as well as a gun businessman. Surely KPMG would be a great sponsorship fit for the club ;-)

Last night KPMG’s Asia-Pacific chairman Michael Andrew was appointed to the position of global head of the financial services group......

Mr Andrew grew up in Victoria and attended Melbourne High School. He was ranked as a junior tennis player along with Paul McNamee and Peter McNamara. Mr Andrew has been treasurer of the Melbourne Cricket Ground and supports the Melbourne Demons in the Australian Football League.

He commenced his career as a lawyer and accountant at ICI (now Orica). He joined Peat Marwick’s tax practice in 1984, becoming a partner in 1988. He worked on the Peat Marwick and KMG merger. Mr Andrew said that the rise of China is behind an influx of Australian executives moving to the top ranks of multinational companies.

Congrats. Must be a good bloke, he went to my school and supports my team.

And he was a lawyer for ICI...

ICI - It's not a spill, it's nature reclamation.

Orica - New name = less spill recognition.

And he was a lawyer for ICI...

Yes, missed that. Must be an even better bloke or in some people's eyes a worse one.

Melbourne High...

Always produces the best...

They really had me fooled when I picked them with great confidence to beat the Bombers at Gather Round last week. I should have recognised that nothing is more quintessentially Melbourne than defeating the undefeated early premiership favourite one week and losing to a winless cellar dweller on its way to establishing a record losing streak the next.
