How many games do you think the Gold Coast will win and who will they be????

I reckon there are a possible 8 games they could win:

Rd. 4 Melb Home

Rd 5 Port A

Rd 7 Bris Hm

Rd 12 North Hm

Rd 17 Rich A

Rd 21 Bris A

Rd 22 Adel Hm

Rd 23 Melb A

My guess is 3.

Who cares, I am more interested in how many games the Dees will win.

I think your assessment is good. The really pertinent fact you mention is the two demon games. A real litmus test for our future. Even if we like to think of ourselves as a 60 - 40 favourite up there they are a possibility. We'd find enough excuses to calm our pain. Our game down here is usually one we would pencil in - really a must win game. However, at round 23 all young players are tired and it will reflect the type of year both have had. It will be a sad end to the year if we lose that one and may I be so bold to suggest considerable change in the Coaching panel.

They wont win many, if the struggle at the start of the season, then they are in serious trouble as ware and tear will take a toll on all of the young bodies

If Adelaide, Freo and Port could all win 8 plus games in their debut then why can't GC?

They weren't full of 18 year olds for a start. And BTW we only won 8 games last year.

It's a big call, but I reckon GC will make finals.

11-12 wins.

It is a HUGE call 'Gooner' BUT if you were right it would make a mockery of the system. By that I mean leapfrogging clubs like us, Richmond, North, West Coast etc. I voted for 4 wins which is all a synthetic team should be able to win in its first season. All the other newly created clubs never received the financial help that Gold Coast and GWS are receiving from the AFL. Look how Brisbane started with a group of unwanted players from existing clubs.

I'm not convinced that they'll leapfrog us, but they could do so.

All the other new clubs outperformed most expectations in their first season. It's clear that the concessions have made a mockery of the AFL. GC making finals won't change what is already known.

You were correct about new teams performing better than expected in their first season. Sydney 9th 12 wins 10 losses, WC 8th 11-11, Adelaide 9th 10-12, port 9th 10-11, 1 draw, Dockers 13th 8=14, Brisbane 2nd last 6-16. Maybe I should upgrade Gold Coast's wins to 6!

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.
