Cam Schwab on SEN

Featured Replies

Will continue to delete posts that offer nothing, let's discuss the MFC shall we and not let the discussions veer off into useless rants and trading of insults.

Having missed the interview..is there anything else that CS had to say. Surely it wasn't all about Tom Scully.

May as well look somewhere else then.

9 minutes and more than half on...

It is available at SEN now. Happy to fill in but may be better if you can to have a listen dandeeman?

Going back o the original subject as posted by Dirty Dee. I didn't listen to Cam. But what appears to be said as according to DD is nothing new or unexpected. He a good officer and tows the company line. For that he is very professional. If he had good news he would have screamed it out. He also acknowledges concern at perceptions that now linger but denies this has affected the playing group or Tom. Sounds like damage control to me.

Is it your intention to turn every thread in to a "will Scully sign" debate? It's a bit tiresome.

Schwabby, ultra professional. Has any other CEO delivered/communicated to their club as well as what Schwabby has ?

Whiteboard Wednesday's a great example.

Cook from Geelong hasn't done a bad job either in delivered/communicated .I'd say at least an equal if not better than Cam.

It may be news to you but DD's post was mostly about the Scully issue.

Results wise Cook speaks for himself at West Coast and Geelong. But Cam had a good days with us previously, did a pretty good job for Fremantle and is doing a sterling job with us now.

Not sure Kevin Bartlett would have much to say about CS?

Over half the interview was about that exact topic.

If no one wants to discuss it then this thread is only half open to discussion?

Well paint me red & blue and call me insecure.

Cale Morton not distracted when he answers questions incorrect?

Jack Trengove gets 3 articles that all take in the one subject for the majority.

More media and radio interviews than I can recall from a demon perspective to start any season, yet the focus is on a single team member rather than the group.

Doesn't sit well with me.

But I'm just distracted and insecure.

Great point you make- please don't be insecure- pop in and have a chat..Scully will stay .However agree- the team is very much more important than any individual.

Go on then, which bit is the good point he makes?

I can't find one.

Needing to validate yourself by asking that of another?

Now I'm turning red E.

This is sad.

I'm just asking what he thought was the good point, because I don't see what he is referring to.

There are too many (poor) football journalists and not enough stories, which is why they love Scully type stories they can keep going. Can't we just set an auto filter in these forums to delete ANY contract talk discussion (including this one) and only allow conclusions to be published.

Maybe there should be an auto email to any of these rubbish journalists to write a real story whenever they do contract speculations.

I'm just asking what he thought was the good point, because I don't see what he is referring to.

What's the point?

Your opinion is established.

JB is a fairly smart, switched on chap though.

Then this thread is pointless and should be closed, it's been done to death and re opening the subject will shed no further light. If someone wants to talk about the balance of the interview or how good Cam is with the media great but we have had thousands of posts on this so far and are still none the wiser.

We are being consumed by the signing or otherwise and there's no answer in what Cam said if the OP is correct.

Best thing Robbie, if you can, is got to the SEN site and have a listen.

I saw the Cale Morton interview. When the Scully word was mentioned Cale went into automatic "tow the company line" response and did not even listen to the question. He was asked about Scully's injury but went on about Scully being a great guy, don't know whats happening with his future, we are confident he will stay, etc. When he was pointed out his error he more or less admitted the issue was on everyones minds.

And now we are told this is not a distraction for the playing group.

like i said the other day, when Grimes is searching for an option from the kick-out, i highly doubt he is thinking about Tom Scully's playing future

When Sam Gilbert is in the same position I doubt he's thinking about Riewoldt's privates. However I will stand to be corrected if does think that...

I think trust among the playing group is what's important. If Tom's intentions are in fact to head to GWS, surely that must unsettle the trust between him and the playing group. Hopefully when they say they don't talk or really think about the situation, they mean it.

In interviews where it has become such a repetitive question from the media, that the players expect it.

Oh no! Cale expected another pointless question to be repeated, because that's what journos do!

The sky is falling.

That has nothing to do with on-field performance.

You're trying to make mountains out of molehills.

If I do will it give me an answer on the Scully saga? I think not.

Look I'm just over the whole thing I'm sick to death of the posters that know a family member and are certain he is staying/going or undecided; I open a thread like this and all that's in it is the same old same old with only the Scully part reported the rest of it disregarded.

It was bad wasn't it? I thought it was anyway. I have absolutely no idea what is involved in having players ready for media etc, is it a group or individual thing?

For example do they pull Cale aside beforehand and go over how to answer this and that or is that time spent during the week? Either way it is done, they are spending much time in 'training' players on how to answer questions about a team mates commitment to them.

Is this why CS today and CC yesterday fronted media and none of the players? Just a thought.

I just want to get something right... Every time a player makes a mistake in an interview, it is because he is distracted by something that is detrimental to the team's on-field performance - is that really what you are trying to say?

Because that is a stupid assertion.

Listen to any AFL player interviewed, they often misunderstand the question being asked.

Problem is, they're not all that bright.

Yep it was bad, time for those in charge to do the talking.

I felt for Cale. There appeared an air of frustration IMO at his attempt to rationale his comments at the end of the interview.

Did you hear the Morton interview? Very cringe worthy IMO.

A cringeworthy mistake and a situation that is a distraction to the point where it is detrimental to the team's performance, are two entirely different things.

No matter how you'd like to present them.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
