Sautner set do do a Bruce

Nick Sautner has been at Springvale, Sandringham, Frankston, Northern Bullants and Sandringham and with the appointment of Brett Lovett, he's apparently weighing up his options and might do a Bruce and hop off to Frankston.

The guy played in five premierships with Sandy. He's won about nine Frosty Miller awards for top goalkicker but Lovett thinks his time has come.

The circumstances are a little different but I agree with Brett Lovett's comment about players trying to finish their careers at other clubs not working out as happened with the likes of Dermott Brereton and Dougie Hawkins. It's going to be sad watching Bruce go round elsewhere after such a long career at Melbourne.

As for Sautner, Brett Lovett is saying he wants him but he also knows he would be better off nurturing a young St. Kilda player for the key forward role. While there's room at the VFL for local players and some good club men, at 34 years of age, Sautner would only be taking a young player's place wherever he played.

WJ, please don't mention the former number 32 again or we will get another 10 pages of posts on him.

Went to school with Sautner, bloke always had a high opinion of himself.

All the lads have taken great pleasure in how Podsiadly was promoted by Geelong leaving Sautner to languish in the VFL.

He is a one trick pony who never had the physical attributes to play AFL.

Hereinafter to be referred to ONLY as "FN32" or if you'd prefer "effin32". No exceptions please.

I say just all of us- move on...

I thought he was washed up 4 years ago. An old fashioned VFA-type goal square full forward.Strong mark but overweight, couldnt/wouldnt chase and a real Richo-type winger ! A dinosaur.....the epitome of a non contemporary footballer !

It’s been a season of grit, growth, and glimpses of brilliance—mixed with a few tough interstate lessons. Now, with finals looming, the Dees head to Kardinia Park for one last tune-up before the real stuff begins.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
