While your reporting things Jackattack, Sam Fisher remains on my ranking list even though he has already been selected, not sure if this means that he could be owned twice as i have moved to auto selections due to work tomorrow afternoon/evening

My next pick has just been put on the veterans list

from pick 1 to 32 is a long time between drinks :)

Therefore-Why would you want extra time.I had a pick within a second each time. All be it- I stuffed up the whole thing.JA told me to get on at 6 Melbourne time. Did not understand how to operate it. Didn't realise phantom draft was an accurate thing.O well. Least got a pick. But definately would not have taken Jolly, first up.

I'll say...

IT says I have 19 hours to decide my next pick.

I think I will wait.

Gee I know it is a sleepy hole up in Canberra- no wonder you take so long to pick.I'm in Malaysia and it took me one second- instantaneously.

...and Jamar selected makes it easy. Was originally favouring Jamar over Mumford though.

I took Mummy last season as a reserve player, after he didn't even get drafted. He ended up outranking Jamar, and was probably the second best ruckman/forward as opposed to forward/ruckman (eg Ryder/Kreuzer). Jamar will get you your 30 hitouts and will win it for you assuming no-one else has a Cross (always got 6 extra hitots as third man up) or a second ruckman... but he didn't give you anything else most of the time. Aaaah Ufooty...

dappa dan, you are an awful man, i had hill penciled in right then

He was more or less an auto pick (I had them ranked only for the first 100 or so and for the most part it was as Ufooty ranked them)... but yeah, pleased with that!!!

In the post previous to this one you said you screwed up your most important pick...

Maybe you should take some more time...

Plenty of time to work out who you're going with for your pick. Big advantage the way I see it.

Backs - Broughton, Gibbs, Fisher

Mids - S.Tuck, Corey

Rucks - Goldstein

Forwards - Sylvia

There looks to be some solid teams being built so far.

Went by auto means last night, because I knew I'd miss the first few hours. I was happy to have landed Ablett at pick 4. Actually I tell a lie, I was ecstatic !

By the time I got on last night, all my pre draft selections had been taken. I'm topping up again, because it will be the same tonight for me, that and the fact I don't wish to hold anyone up.

Interesting concept and happy with my picks to date.

Why didn't 45 get Grimes ?? :)

PS. eth38 - Browny will be ok. After his early season form you may even approach me for a trade for him..:)

Is that right that the draft starts again in 3 hours from now?

That's right. 5:00.

Correct.

rpfc's pick times out around 5:00 (roughly).

I tried to make it 5:30 but the site didn't give me the option for half hour increments.

Don't be so modest...;)

I'll pump up your tyres for you..

Davey & Jurrah as well...

Your side is by far the best and will be the benchmark.

I would personally prefer Scarlett's team.

Some very wise picks in there, in terms of Ufooty at least.

EDIT: Dappa will be tough to beat with Sandilands.

Just light hearted banter JA.

I wasn't online- I am in Malaysia- I notified Jack Attack whom suggested I come online at 6pm. I had done a rough draft pick- just highlighting some of the players whom I was interested in .When I came on at 5.59 my picks wee done 2 of them. Auto something- then I realised what had happened. You have developed a good list- but I can assure you I would not have picked Jolly 1st up- would have been 3rd or 4th pick. That's lfe but hurry up tonight.Your first pick should take no more than a second.O well good luck to ya- I will know better next year. I can tell ya - it is frustrating when one takes so long. It is nearly the end of the earth.

You haven't done too badly yourself- Range Rover and you will give him a run for his money. I will go for the wooden spoon and extra draft picks for next year.

Need help seriously re this game. How I have read it we pick 11 players. 3 back, 3 forward, 1 ruckman 3 centres and a utility. These make up the team of 11 players. We then have 5 emergencies and 5 more on the bench -whom we can rotate etc..trade draft etc -Is that correct?

PLEASE ADVISE-THANKS

I had my eye on Jolly, I think you have done well to pick him up.

His late season form was great, early he was useless so his average stats for the year probably bring his projected ranking down a bit.

I had him as the second best ruck available.

You draft 21 players, and select a team of 11 (+5 emergencies) from those 21.

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

Saturday’s election night game in Perth between the West Coast Eagles and Melbourne represents 18th vs 15th which makes it a tough decision as to which party to favour. The Eagles have yet to break the ice under their new coach in Andrew McQualter who is the second understudy in a row to confront Demon Coach Simon Goodwin who was also winless until a fortnight ago. On that basis, many punters might be considering to go with the donkey vote but I’ve been assigned with the task of helping readers to come to a considered opinion on this matter of vital importance across the nation. It was almost a year ago that I wrote a preview here of the Demons’ away game against the Eagles (under the name William from Waalitj because it was Indigenous Round).  I issued a warning that it was a danger game, based on my local knowledge that the home team were no longer easybeats and that they possessed a wunderkind generational player in Harley Reid who was capable of producing stellar performances playing among men a decade and more older than he.  At the time, the Eagles already had two wins off the back of a couple of the young man’s masterclasses and they had recently given the Bombers a scare straight after their Anzac Day blockbuster draw against the then reigning premiers.

  • NON-MFC: Round 08

Round 08 of the 2025 AFL Season kicks off on Thursday with a must-win game for the Bombers to stay in touch with the top eight, while the struggling Roos seek a morale-boosting upset. Friday sees the Saints desperate for a win as well if they are to stay in finals contention and their opponents the Dockers will be eager to crack in to the Top 8 with a win on the road. Saturday kicks off with a pivotal clash for both sides asthe Bulldogs look to solidify their top-eight spot, while Port seeks to shake their pretender tag. Then the Crows will be looking to steady their topsy turvy season against a resurgent Blues looking to make it 4 wins on the trot. On Election Night a Blockbuster will see the ladder-leading Pies take on the Cats, who are keen to bounce back after a narrow loss. On Sunday the Sydney Derby promises fireworks as the Giants aim to cement their top-eight status, while the Swans fight to keep their season alive. The Hawks, celebrating their centenary, will be looking to easily account for the Tigers who are desperate to halt their slide. The Round concludes on Sunday Night with a top end of the table QClash with significant ladder implications; both Queensland teams are in scintillating form. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • PREGAME: West Coast

The Demons hit the road in Round 8, heading to Perth to face the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium. With momentum building, the Dees will be aiming for a third straight victory to keep their season revival on course. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
