Next Monday night at Lambeau for your blokes ... might be a 'trap' game for the Packers after today :) It's now out of the Falcons & Saints for the division you'd reckon. Excellent win against a good opponent - a game you had to win.

Although a game behind the Eagles and Green Bay, Seattle will almost certainly hold the tie break against those 2 teams if they draw level on wins (and win the NFC West) It's conceivable that the Seahawks could have home field advantage right through to the Super Bowl if they win the NFC West.

Next weeks Seahawks @ Eagles game holds the key to the NFC I believe.

Two blocked punts returned for touchdowns by Minnesota today I haven't seen that before. It was a good win considering Carolina are close to a division title

Some other observations ..

  • San Diego & Buffalo won't go away ... 10 wins probably gets a wild-card in the AFC & both teams can get there.
  • The Giants and Panthers are terrible
  • Cinci just don't lose games (8/3/1) and their week 16 game vs Denver looms as a season definer
  • Some joy to be had for Vikings & Rams fans - especially the St Louis win - a rout.
  • Packers hold out New England and get a vital win - defense stood up but we should have scored more heavily - missed a number of 7 point opportunities
  • Belichick gives a bit of credit - what gives? More mind games? All done in typical monotone style

Can't see anyone knocking off the Pack as of today. Some stuff has to change if anyone's gonna knock them off in their own dungheap.

There's a few things that can impact negatively even if the Packers win out and get the 1 seed.

We all saw what happened in 2011/12 ... 15/1 and knocked out in their first playoff game ... what I do know is that we haven't been a team that needs time away from exercising our game plan. Rodgers is a deep ball thrower and what destroyed the team in 2011/12 was him not throwing for 3 weeks (he was rested in week 17 of that year and we didn't play on wild-card weekend)

Seattle are a real danger if they win the NFC West. Your blokes at home are a different proposition as well. Detroit should win their next 3 so that week 17 game against the Packers could decide the NFC North.

It ain't over till it's over.

It was reported that Andy Dalton was very ill before the game and needed IV treatment. They should have treated his eyes as well. 3 picks in the first half and then Tampa found a way to lose.

All I can say about the Green Bay New England game is Super Bowl. Watching my vikes cough and splutter during most drives makes me think it's a normal standard of play in the NFL but then you see these two teams go at it. What a quality game. That number one seed is so important for Green Bay if mike tyson were to fight Rodgers at Green Bay I'd probably bet on A Rod.

Yeah I've heard the same pros and cons, and to be honest, I look at other clubs and they've got far bigger form issues, injuries and gaping holes. I'm going on the very popular thought that at Lambeau, GB are a cut above anyone in the league. Pats were the best side in the comp, and I don't even know how they stayed in it as long as they did.

The issue was, and is, that the only way GB miss home field advantage is if they drop a couple in these last few weeks. Pats and Lions are the only hope there, and one is done. After that Seattle is a game behind them, Philly will lose one or both of Seattle/Dallas, and Arizona's year was lost weeks ago when Palmer went out, they just don't know it yet. GB has the equal best record now, won't lose another game as far as I see it, and has all the important tie breakers even if it does.

Going on that, I can't see any side knocking them off at home. There just isn't time left for massive changes in their side due to injury. Rodgers is that good.

To be honest, I wasn't taking a lot of notice of the quality of the game when watching it live ... just wanted to win

Watched the highlights and summary of the game etc and then I realised how good a game it was. Again, at the time you get too immersed in the winning ... same thing happens with Demon games only on a larger scale. Just win!

Fair enough ...

If we don't win the NFC I'm gonna blame you Dappa haha ... in all seriousness, I'm taking it one game at a time!

Gotta say I'm happy to beat the Pats ... just to see the Brady reaction near the end was gold. He's a champ but beating him is certainly an achievement.

Order restored in the tipping comp ... no points earned!

I can only hope it's a trap game and maybe GB have a let down after a big game yesterday but I ain't holding my breath, we'll get smashed I reckon haha... But yeah think the saints might have the easier run home but who knows in the NFL!

Well after a long day at work staying back to cover sick staff I finally get home to watch the Rams and what a great first half it was. Our D was huge. Smashed them from the first snap, Long got a game in which was awesome to see.

We still played average in the second half but that was ok.

Tre Mason, what a year this kid is having.

Yeah the Jets did everything they could to lost that game after the first quarter and they finally managed it.

How bad was that missed interception...

Straight through the hands and onto the helmet.

Backing the Rams!!!!

Been a while since that would have occurred. Ha ha bet we bloody lose!

Sorry mate. You have my permission to campaign for my instant dismissal from this site if you lose. Seriously though, I'm shocked that the Rams are only 5-7. Every time I seem to look at their score they're flogging a team or beating up on one of the league's best. Actually, I'm looking at your schedule now. That is insanely difficult. With both the AFC West and NFC West strong and having to play each other, it's a tough schedule for anyone in those divisions.

The AFC WC race is really tight and will be really interesting to watch it play out. Tuesday Morning Quarterback noted today how this December features so many critical playoff-implication matches, whereas in previous years December has been the playoff sides just tuning up for January. For example, San Diego has to play Denver, Kansas City, SF and New England. They looked good this weekend but that's an horrendous run home. Similarly, Buffalo has the Raiders, but also Green Bay, New England and Denver. Baltimore has crucial games against Cleveland and Miami, Miami has the Ravens and Patriots, the Browns have the Colts, Bengals and Panthers. So many important games with so much riding on them.

If Miami beats Baltimore this week, they could get to 10 and get in. If Baltimore win they could do it, but they lose the tiebreaker to San Diego and they're weak in their conference record which also hurts. Chiefs will need to beat at least one of Pittsburgh and Arizona on the road if they want to make it (the Oakland and Tennessee losses are shaping up to make them miss the playoffs).

Yep, the playoffs virtually start this week ... to add further to your points, titan ...

  • Dallas have to win given their schedule (@ Chicago)
  • Pittsburgh lose and they're possibly out (at Cinci)
  • Same for Baltimore or Miami who play each other
  • Cleveland almost certainly need to win vs Indi
  • Houston win at the Jags and they keep their slim hopes alive (they'd need to win out you'd reckon)
  • Buffalo will need to win at Denver given they also have to play the Packers
  • KC also have to win at Arizona but the Cards lose this game and they could endanger their whole playoff chances (given their schedule)
  • Seattle @ Philadelphia has all sorts of implications
  • New England can't afford to lose at San Diego and the Chargers can't afford to lose either
  • San Francisco should win comfortably at Oakland but they'll almost certainly need to win out and get to 11 wins

Mad Monday ... NFL style!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
