I'm still nervous the Rams will move on from Stafford.

If anything I'd rather stay with Stafford and be looking to stock pile some picks in the coming years that we might be able to trade for a higher pick to get a young QB.

I don't think they will move from Stafford. That would be a Raiders thing to do.

Really hope @Dappa Danis enjoying this. Great job mate.

Local lads Hall & Oates might be front & centre in those Philadelphia bars right now (just after 2am?!)

Dappa used to spend a bit of time in the States so he'll no doubt be celebrating hard!!!

i actually think of Eagles win they prob do it by 14+

Good call, what a shocking performance by the Chiefs although the dominance of the Eagles D line just gave them nothing. Mahomes couldn't pull any tricks out of his sleeves though, just had absolutely nothing to give.

Congrats Philly, well deserved, can't believe Sirianni is a SB winning coach. Was a couple of losses from getting fired earlier in the year you'd think.

The front four of the eagles D were the Most Valuable People.

They were the most valuable people, most important players and very important persons

Donald Rumsford-like, layz

Not-noticed important players (the OL), barely noticed important people (the DL) and always noticed important persons (QB's, RB's, Andy Reid)

They probably had the best offensive line this year as well as the best D-line. Great example of building a team from the trenches.

The Eagles flew under the radar a trifle too ... Detroit & the NFC North, The Bills, Chiefs & Ravens in the AFC were often the main talking points

The final real pointer was the Eagles demolishing the up & coming Washington in the NFC Championship

And KC's luck ran out after so many narrow wins

But hey, isn't hindsight a wonderful thing!!

Josh Allen wins NFL MVP

Lamar Jackson a close up 2nd

Saquan Barkley a long way back in 3rd spot.  Yet his season definitely rivals Adrain Peterson & LaDanuan Tomlinson (who both won the award as RB's)

Could he have played any better? Averaging 142.7 yards per game

He's the main reason the Eagles got to the SB (in my view)

Funny enough the Rams got the closest to the eagles in the playoffs.

Gratz Macca!

It was all a bit anticlimactic (a bit like the actual SB!) but nevertheless, someone had to win the post season comp

More importantly, the regular season comp worked well with the changes in the points system ... kept everyone interested throughout, which is what we wanted

I might add, @Gorgoroth

The new regular season tipping comp points system, designed by you !!

Next year will be the 13th NFL tipping comp ... time flies hey!!

Now for the footy season and the Mighty Demons!  (I'm quietly confident we will at least play finals because if our list stays relatively healthy, we should get to at least 13 wins)

13 years... man how time flies.

My Physio who I saw yesterday was talking about here time in Milwaukee working with the buck and how crazy the tow got when the packers were playing. said she had never seen the likes.

Combine, then draft and the trades, soo enough its September and the season is off and running again!

It's funny isn't it.

Wisconsin is undoubtedly a football state. Basketball has a solid following there with the Bucks and Badgers but football is definitely king.

I did think of getting an American footy for the winners to sign and keep for the year

But getting people together is problematical ... maybe Crown on a Sunday during the playoffs?  Week 2 of the playoffs

Bring a mate or 2?  I've got 3 or 4 mates who have a keen interest in the NFL

Worth a try, would take the DL NFL tipping group to a whole new level!

Raiders very interested.

So I'm hearing that both want for Stafford to stay and Stafford will accept under the $50m he wants to stay in LA. But they need to come to this arrangement.

But Raiders and Giants are coming hard, but would he leave for a little more money and go to a team rebuilding?

If he does go, Rodgers is keen to play for LA and would be cheap so the Rams might be thinking, let stafford walk, get picks, have Rodgers at QB for a year or two and see what happens, trade up, not this draft but the next and get a QB then as the QB class is not great going by the experts.

Interesting two weeks coming up I reckon.

Can Rodgers really give the Rams much more than Stafford at this point of his career. It would have to be based around a cap saving surely but I just think why go through the whole new QB and learning a new playbook thing if you don't have to just yet?

Much cheaper and I heard that Rodgers last 9 games or so were rated up there with the best in the league.

We have also hired his old QB coach as ours has been promoted to another team iirc and I honestly think he could easily lay out playbook after being in Green bay.
Rodgers has praised McVay multiple times over the years too.

  • PREVIEW: Brisbane

And just like that, we’re Narrm again. Even though the annual AFL Sir Doug Nicholls Round which commemorates the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture to our game has been a welcome addition to our calendar for ten years, more lately it has been a portent of tough times ahead for we beleaguered Narrm supporters. Ever since the club broke through for its historic 2021 premiership, this has become a troubling time of the year for the club. For example, it all began when Melbourne rebranded itself as Narrm across the two rounds of the Sir Doug Nicholls Round to become the first club to adopt an Indigenous club name especially for the occasion. It won its first outing under the brand against lowly North Melbourne to go to 10 wins and no losses but not without a struggle or a major injury to  star winger Ed Langdon who broke his ribs and missed several weeks. In the following week, still as Narrm, the team’s 17 game winning streak came to an end at the hands of the Dockers. That came along with more injuries, a plague that remained with them for the remainder of the season until, beset by injuries, the Dees were eliminated from the finals in straight sets. It was even worse last year, when Narrm inexplicably lowered its colours in Perth to the Waalit Marawar Eagles. Oh, the shame of it all! At least this year, if there is a corner to turn around, it has to be in the direction of something better. To that end, I produced a special pre-game chant in the local Narrm language - “nam mi:wi winnamun katjil prolin ambi ngamar thamelin amb” which roughly translated is “every heart beats true for the red and the blue.” >y belief is that if all of the Narrm faithful recite it long enough, then it might prove to be the only way to beat the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba on Sunday. The Lions are coming off a disappointing draw at Marvel Stadium against a North Melbourne team that lacks the ability and know how to win games (except when playing Melbourne). Brisbane are, however, a different kettle of fish at home and have very few positional weaknesses. They are a midfield powerhouse, strong in defence and have plenty of forward options, particularly their small and medium sized players, to kick a winning score this week after the sting of last week’s below par performance.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
