Yes it can!

Wow big miss, he was close enough.

Saying groin, return questionable.

Damn I don’t want to go to work. Rather stay home and watch the games!

Oh well, will watch rest when I get home.

That hit by Clay Matthews on Cousins as he threw a INT is super costly, tied game.

You forgot to mention that the Matthews hit wasn't exactly illegal ... if they're are going to pay that all season then we may as well play tackle-free football.

Still,  it made no difference to the overall result because you win some and lose some.  You take the good with the bad (the rub of the green)

But that tackle by Matthews was just a normal tackle to the body.  Ridiculous ruling.

Vikings played well though and were unlucky not to win it ... 2 field goal attempts to win it went astray.

Jags solid enough today. Better getting the Pats early on before they get into Beast Mode.

Who would want to be a kicker?

Just finished watching the Niners v Lions game and all I’ll say is it’s good to get a win. Played well for 2 1/2 quarters but in my mind the Lions went from being a joke to a team that is giving it a fair crack this season. They really need to clean up on their penalties though.

Only other game I’ve seen is extended highlights of Vikes @ Packers and wow what a belter. The Matthews hit is just another example of this new rule, it’s going to be real tough to lay a hit on a QB and I look forward to the next week when what was once a good hit wipes off a good play. You can’t bring ‘half pressure’ on a QB. Very good game though I think both those teams will be at the pointy end.

Also now that Ryan Fitzpatrick has won two games and is officially now QB royalty (judging by the way he turned up to his presser), is Winston in trouble?

Any tackle of a QB now is a potential penalty for roughing the passer ... not the referee's fault either.  The rulemakers are at fault

The grey areas in the NFL could get to be as bad as the AFL where the rulemakers bring in rulings thus causing numerous footy supporters to blame the umpires as if it is somehow their fault.

Can of worms well and truly opened and we are going to see inconsistent rulings all season.  In fact,  it is already happening.

If I was 'Joe supporter' I'd be blaming the Refs for Green Bay being deprived of a victory but I am not doing that and never would.  Green Bay could easily be the beneficiary of a similar decision down the track.

My view is from an overall perspective ... all our teams are going to be on the wrong side of this ruling as the season progresses.

By the way,  I never once complained about the 2 tackles that resulted in 2 broken collarbones to Aaron Rodgers.  Those injuries were on McCarthy and to a lesser extent,  Rodgers himself.

Bortles playing very well too ... proving a lot of people wrong.

I've got no doubt about that at all. We'll all be taking turns . Nothing worse than your team getting a big juicy sack and getting the rush of blood only to see the flag down.

It reminds me of the slide-in tackle in footy layz ... fair enough for feet or knees first but if a player is 1 metre from the ball and goes to pick it up?  Madness!

Again,  we ended up on the receiving end but just because it can happen the other way around down the track for the footy team doesn't make it a sound ruling.  Those charged with overseeing the rule changes need to be thinking of these things.  It's not set and forget.

And with regards to the NFL the QB's can be easily taught how to milk the penalty with this new ruling ... flop back or accentuate the contact so as it looks like the tackler is lifting the QB.  The law of unintended consequences rears its ugly head as well.

At the end of the day we might end up in a 'Throw-ball' situation where any given QB knows he can't really be hurt by a tackler.  Don't like it,  don't like it one bit.

Dayum. Why are these all so hard?

Packers, Pats and Raiders.

Def no illegal but called as such and he has had two in two weeks, both late both costly.

This is the sliding rule in the AFL, bought in for one reason, implemented wrongly and causing angers and angst.

Rams roll on, losing Greg for a few weeks isn’t ideal. D looked a bit more in tune this week.

Jags looked good, Pats got back in it late but never looked like winning.

Bucs and Fitzmagic are going great, be interesting to see how long this goes for.

Browns brownsed it up again. Poor fans, they must think Norm Smith cursed them too!

The week 2 incident was not late at all ... nor was it illegal.  Nor does it have anything to do with whatever happened in the past.

It is simply a bad rule

You should be totally outraged by the decision and I am wondering why you aren't outraged because normally you would be?

What about you Dappa?

You'd normally be all over the Matthews incident ... nothing to say?

The story led just about every NFL show in the States and is an absolute game-changer.

The Matthews (legal) tackle video has been sent to all the NFL teams with a reminder of what NOT to do.

Get ready for that type of tackle to now carry an 'Ejection' as well as a 15 yard penalty.

The sport has changed overnight and Rodgers now has virtually no chance of being injured again ... and I don't want that at all.

Bears, Patriots, Raiders.

Reckon that is a trap game for the Packers.

Green Bay will be nice and fired up though

II am tipping that Rodgers will have a field day and that Green Bay will get a few questionable calls their way.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
