And aside from tomorrow's game there's a big clash coming up in a few days time for your blokes (Eagles @ Panthers)  I'm not sure how the players ever find a way to back up again just 4 days later but the match-ups are often very good and I suppose both sides are in the same boat (re prep time)

All I know is that it just continues the Friday night 'football' (on the box) and I'm all-in.   One of the teams will almost certainly end up being 5 & 1 and well set-up.  Newton vs Wentz - bring it on.

The Giants will win games soon enough ... they can only hope to play spoiler now and they do have 4 games left within your division.

Yup. I do love that you're never more than a few days from a game to watch.

As an aside. And as an impartial who knows a thing or two about gun QBs... How do you feel about the Wentz, Goff, Dak QB class?

I read your earlier post and I agree with your view ...there's some real talent around and there's a good degree of athleticism attached with nearly all of the new breed.  On the surface it all looks a step-up from the Kap,  RG3 & Luck class.  Although I'm still scratching my head about the fall from grace with Kaepernick.

Good arms everywhere as well ... was impressed with Prescott today but he just got out-gunned by Rodgers - no disgrace in that.

I reckon the QB class definitely runs deeper now - and it's the new blokes that have pushed up the numbers.  Brady,  Ryan,  Ben,  Flacco,  Stafford,  Smith,  Rivers,  Wilson,  Breez & Cousins are all still good though.  Even Eli's numbers are still decent - not sure about McAdoo as a head coach.  An 0 & 5 start would normally spell doom in New York.

Yeah I'm assuming many many heads will roll, and their first pick will be Eli's replacement.

And yeah, fun times with QBs. It's looking like it's not even going to be that interesting to have a good one, as there's only a few teams who have basket-case QBs or backups put into single-season starting roles.

Got a mate who is a recent convert to the NFL ... and he picked the Giants as his team.  This bloke knows a fair bit about team sport and he's well aware of Eli and the 2 x SB wins and Coughlin and all that.

He hasn't had a problem with Eli all year but he reckons the Giants O-Line & D-Line are woeful and are the crux of the Giants problems.  And coach McAdoo.

It's hard for me to comment as I don't watch their games (aside from highlights & Redzone) so I'll take his and your word for it as you both will watch their games (or at least a number of their games)  ... as an example of that,  I've got a keen interest in tomorrow's game (Vikings @ Bears) because both teams are in Green Bay's division.

Yeah he's right. Their O line has been spectacularly bad. Commentators have been ruthless too which is never a good sign. Usually they're kind and make excuses. They took this kid Ereck Flowers two years ago at 9th overall... and overlooked a couple of players many had pegged as better in the same position. He's been spectacularly poor. So much so that when they played the Eagles, they knew they couldn't allow Eli to get sacked so they went no huddle and got the ball out quicker. Which meant no deep routes. Which meant they lost. McAdoo will have to do a lot just to keep his job. Even if they go 6-10, or even 8-8 by some miracle... They're just as likely to turn up next year and end up with a sub .500 record. In which case, he's gone.

Pumped about tomorrow. Vikes D is good to watch and Bradford is back. More importantly though, Vikings win, I go into the lead.

Mate it's awesome. And right now, aside from the Eagles, no club is more popular in Philly than the Packers. Watching the game, it felt like they had you all the way. Their offense was gashing you, your O line was all guards and was letting them through to Rodgers. I didn't think they could do it. But that's Rodgers for you. Thrilled Dallas is 2-3 now. That's actually a tough spot to come back from. You'd think they'd have to not lose any more than 3 of the next 11... that will take some doing. But I still think they're the real threat. Still not confident on Skins. Bit too up and down. But wow, what a great start to a season for a team that not too many thought would have a shot. And all this time... the Giants. :o

Pretty horrendously bad luck. And while Goff wasn't his scintillating best, I did like that he was aggressive. Watching Wentz overthrow guys for fear of throwing a pick is as frustrating as the risky ones that don't come off. Kupp dropped the winner too. Was just a bad luck day all around really, but certainly no reason to throw in the towel. Many people have Seattle's D as the best going round. So that's a pretty good effort.

Not throwing in the towel, we played good for big stretches, moved the bal well, but he threw at Sherman a few times when he really shouldn’t have and I got the feeling h3 wanted to beat him and he did a few times, but once it was to Watkins with 4 players within 5 yards.

Tripping over Gurley at the 15yrd line wasn’t great either ?

TBH Dappa, I think I’m more confident of pushing for the div and or a wildcard than I was pre game.

Tough catch Kupp missed at the end, 3 inches closer and I reckon he takes that.

Loving the eagles work, especially that first quarter. Wow.

@Gorgoroth ... what about those Panthers?  2 big wins on the road and their schedule now looks a hell of a lot easier.

As for my Packers ... that's a clutch win in big D and Rodgers is just amazing.  The WR's really stood up as well and when that happens, we're always a chance.  I'm not sure how far we can go with a below average defense but they do have their good days - get the timing right and who knows?

Yeah... might be wrong about the panthers... ha ha.

I knew Rodgers would win that game for you. You just know he will. What a QB.

And how 'bout them Jags @Clintosaurus?  Like Seattle from the more recent past,  your D is often your offense.  It's great to see actually ... you'll probably need 10 wins to get it done in your division but 9 wins might suffice.  Your schedule isn't tough so it's do-able.

I was surprised by Fournette's wheels on the 90 yard TD. Just burnt them off. Obviously need better QB play but the division is pretty weak this season if Luck isn't back soon, and with the injuries the Titans and Texans have.

Gee this new guy looks good in the first quarter. Decent arm on him.

Bears might have something here.

Is he better than Glennon? Yes. Is he better than Cutler was? Hmmm. Could be. Bears will be pleased so far... But TBH as far as rookie QBs go this year Watson has been unbelievable.

Article yesterday had every teams quickest player as recorded by the speedo this year. Fournette was #1 league wide at 23 mph or something. Quicker than DJax, quicker than Hill... I didn't know he was a speed guy, I thought he was a heavy slower guy. Impressive.

Yeah I saw that one to Watkins, and as an impartial I was pleased Goff went for it. The fact he has the guts to throw to Sherman on a one-on-one in his second year on back to back plays. I know only one came off, but they were both good throws that Sherman couldn't have gotten to. That was really something. I had to rub my eyes and check it really was him. You just never see Sherman in regular plays like that.

Yeah you should be confident. There was an article today on the most watchable teams in the league right now. Eagles #1, Rams #2... and Eagles were only #1 cos you just don't know if it'll continue, or if it'll explode in their faces, which makes them more watchable for drama than for excellence.

Eagles first quarter was like football porn. I can't remember the last time I could sit back and enjoy a second half of Eagles footy.

AP traded to to the Cardinals. A conditional pick for 2018.

Makes sense sort of. He wasn't being used, even with two of their RBs out. They obviously are going to just use Lacy and Rawls. Cards though must have lost patience with CJ2K.

Well they are saying on NFL live that they don't think Johnson will return from injury this year. That means AP gets this year as the man.

Oh man. I didn't even know he was hurt. Off to my fantasy squad to put a waiver request in.

Yeah I see, hence the AP signing. It's interesting though. He's gone from being the fourth in line guy behind Rawls, Lacy and McKissick to being either third or fourth in line behind Ellington, CJ2K or Williams. I'm thinking they saw Johnson against the Eagles run stuffers and thought, nup, too old, he's done. Weird that they get AP to do that role. He's lost a step as well.

Bill Simmons' 'Guess the Lines' podcast

Just the 1 point on offer this week but we do play for 2 points in all the odd-numbered weeks (Week 17 is worth 3 points)

The Thursday night match-up holds a lot of interest and whilst the Pats are heavy favourites against the Jets and should win,  the game might be close,  all the same.  Same deal for the Packers/Vikes game although Green Bay are only 3.5 favs.

Not sure I can trust the Lions or Tampa either.  Rams @ Jags is another decent match-up.

LIVE AND LET DIE by Meggs

The Demons’ impressive late season charge to finals will most likely come unstuck this Saturday evening when the Bombers blow up the also-ran Blues in the Ikon Park double-header.   To mangle McCartney, what does it matter to ya? To have any chance to play next week Narrm has got a job to do and needs to do it well.  We’ve got to give the Pie sheilas hell, say live and let die! It’s Indigenous Round for this game and the chance to celebrate and engage with Aboriginal and Torres
