Excellent win to the Rams and those special teams plays were something else - especially the "fake catch" bit.

KC winning in San Diego keeps their season alive - divisional games can often throw up mixed results.

Baltimore keep marching on and along with the Colts & Arizona, all 3 are in a position to win their respective divisions. All 3 teams are flying under the radar a bit too.

The Saints threw away a winnable game ... what was Brees thinking?

Denver looked great tonight and well done to Peyton on breaking Favre's record - Manning was immense again ... 22/26 with 4 TD's against good opposition. Wow!

But the big story for me is Seattle - they just don't look the same team and with 10 or 11 wins probably being needed for a wild-card in the NFC, the Seahawks had better get a move on. They've still got to play all 3 of their divisional rivals at home and have to travel to @ Carolina @ KC @ 49ers @ Eagles and @ Arizona ... that's no walk in the park.

Order was restored in the tipping comp ... no one got a point ^_^ 2 points up for grabs in week 8 (the third of our bonus weeks) ... week 8 games

Points tally ...

Tomorrow

11.30am Houston at Pittsburgh (ESPN)

Could be a close one but I fancy the Steelers.

Ha. Yeah there's some odd things going on with your D. Is it a scheme/DC thing maybe? They were the next big thing in fantasy. I picked, and luckily had Green Bay as a backup.

And yeah the Bradford thing is what's great about Davis. He's this completely free pick, 4th string, and he's been really, really good. From what I've seen, you'd be quite comfortable keeping Davis.

Missing Long big time in our D, Laurinitis doesn't seem as switched on this year so far and Quinn is copping all the attention.

I thought Donald had a ripping game yesterday.

But TBH, we play well for a half then things fall away and we can't get them off the field, like we game up a first down on a 3rd and 17. Just shouldn't happen, they work their socks off in the first two downs then it's like they think they have got it and relax on the 3rd down.

Screw you Orton. Frustrating game to watch especially when had had a 4th and 20 midfield after we sacked Orton for the sixth time they call a play quick and Orton gets the first down and then the game winning TD. Good on the bills but losing Jackson and spiller to injuries really hurts their offence. Bears are winless at soldier field. I'd say they and the vikes are cooked. It's down to Detroit and the pack. Seattle should bounce back. Their run defence looks sluggish but Wilson will find a way.

How was that 2:54 secs block coming to half time by the Steelers...Wow, never seen anything like it.

Gonna make a late change here and put Detroit in my picks and take out... gulp... Seattle.

Can you re-do your tips and just delete your original post?

Otherwise I'm likely to miss your change of tips

Seattle

Indy

Green Bay

I was going to pick the Rams to jinx them, but I just couldn't do that do Gorgoroth.

Excellent line-up of TV games this week ... Denver should be too strong at home tomorrow but it is a divisional game ...

Friday

11.25am San Diego at Denver (ESPN)

Monday

4.00am - 10.30am RedZone (ESPN)

4.00am Baltimore at Cincinnati (7mate)

7.25am Indianapolis at Pittsburgh (7mate)

11.30am Green Bay at New Orleans (7mate & ESPN)

Tuesday

11.30am Washington at Dallas (ESPN)

All the week 8 games

Chargers have some injuries iirc so Denver should beat them, I hope it's a good game but I think Denver will win comfortably by 17

Detroit

Green Bay

Miami

Just a reminder that 2 points are on offer this week ...

Miami

Indianapolis

Seattle

Detroit (feel a bit sneaky tipping the London game)

Miami

Houston (JJ Watt v a 3rd string QB on debut - feel crazy tipping a team with Pickspatrick at QB, wanted to tip GB, but maybe some vintage Drew Brees can turn it around at home?)

Re-done post, Packers, Colts and regretting it now but Detroit.

  • Author

Oh wow. Not regretting Detroit anymore... great finish and great comeback.

Thankyou Detroit's new FG kicker. I'll take the 2 points, it's about all the fun I've got left in the NFL. And thanks everyone who tipped the Colts.

In other news the Bears defense carried the team for a while this season but now due to injuries and shocking lack of depth on the roster have crumbled to a mess at the hands of Brady. And we pulled one from the bonehead Detroit play book by a guy doing his ACL celebrating a sack (whilst down the best part of 30 points).

GB v NO is heating up. If Brees plays well this will be 40 all. NO can't stop Rodgers.

Julius Peppers on offense at goal line TE dropping a pass. Oh Mike McCarthy you so crazy.

Except Saints. (And his own hamstrings)

All teams get injuries ... it's not the only reason you're 3 & 5. Your QB just can't get it done on a consistent basis - and, you're stuck with him by the looks of it.

You may as well tank the rest of the season now

Except Saints. (And his own hamstrings)

The Saints have been far too good today ... the Packers haven't really looked like it. Rodgers has looked a little incapacitated but we've been outplayed in nearly all areas. No excuses.

If New Orleans get their act together, they'll win the NFC South in a canter - trouble is, they're not much chop on the road.

Watched your game this morning and whilst Foles numbers looked quite good, he couldn't get it done in crunch time.

3 of us picked up points in the comp this week ... 2 points as well :) ... the Packers & Indi let the rest of us down.

Points tally ...

Week 9 games (back to 1 point only ) It's still not too late to join in the comp and with the leaders only being on 3 points, it's anyone's race.

Not many surprise results in today's games although the Steelers might be a lot better than many thought ... Big Ben had an immense game and they're only a half a game back in the AFC North ... their next 4 - vs Ravens, @ Jets, @ Titans, vs Saints are all winnable.

Detroit might be finally shaking off the choking tag and their next 4 might tell us how good they are ... vs Miami, @ Arizona, @ New England, vs Chicago.

Arizona keep winning and the 49ers & Seattle must be getting a bit concerned now ... Buffalo, Miami, KC & Houston all winning keeps those 4 teams within striking distance.

So we start like a house on fire, try to pick up a turn over instead of dropping on it leading to their first score, allow KC to get momentum, screw up a great turn over and then miss the FG, WTF was Davis thinking losing 14 yards from the red zone... throw the ball out you [censored]!

And it was all down hill from there, they return a 99 yarder, their confidence goes up, Smith plays well from there especially against our three rookie corners, Davis confidence when it goes down, the balloon doesnt deflate, it gets shredded.

He showed no fight or spirit and then we lost half our O line too.

Oh god... I don't know enough about the finer details of rules but doesn't seem right the way we lost. I swear this team gets more and more like melbourne every week. Inventing new ways to lose, I can't take it anymore . A win there would have kept the season alive in a weak divison

Edited by JV7

Yeah JV7 that loss has to hurt. Detroit got the win and they roll on for another week. Rodgers twinged the hammy but won't miss games. I think they would amputate the leg and put him on a wooden spike instead of him missing a week. I tipped the pack thinking that under the dome with the saints mediocre defense Rodgers would get big yards and he still did but the Saints found a way. I refused to think Seattle had dropped off a bit but after seeing a fair chunk of their game they don't stink but they smell a little. Their mistakes today were very unlike them. Stupid penalties and dropped passes. Carolina have a very good defense but Seattle never really clicked all game. Chicago don't smell they stink. If you compare them to the poorer teams in the league Raiders,Bucs,Jets,Vikes and Jags then they don't look so bad but Chicago always have had the expectation of being a playoff team. Cutler is just no good against playoff teams. He fumbles under pressure far too much. Lovie Smith had the defense to protect Cutler from being "the guy" much like Ponder had AP to cover his backside. Now that the defense isn't a top 5 D Cutler looks unsettled. Could be worse though. I'm looking at you Geno!

Edit: Anthony Barr I love you.

Did you watch it? I don't have game pass and I was up at 4am this morning (with a newborn) watching the Bengals game and following our game on twitter and gamecast. Despite the final scoreline, those deflating things early in sporting games like mussed field goals can completely change the direction of a contest. Smith's numbers were very efficient. He plays within his limitations, which I like.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #32 Tom Sparrow

The rugged Sparrow’s career appears to have plateaued in recent years. He makes the side on a week to week basis but he is unable to establish a foothold in the team’s midfield and arguably performs best outside of the contest in a forward position without being a goal kicker. He remains a good honest foot soldier but is not a star.

Fullarton managed a couple of games in the first half of the season but soon found himself back in the VFL. There, he found a niche at centre half back but it was not enough to retain a place on the list at season’s end.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #35 Harrison Petty

Entering 2025, it looked as if Petty would be secured in a defensive position, but plans shifted and he spent more time forward, averaging just over a goal per game throughout the season. It remains uncertain which area of the ground he will be expected to cover under the new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The dynamic small forward, possessing an innate ability to generate excitement with his explosive play around the goals, successfully transitioned into a role that afforded him more time in the midfield. The club also negotiated a long-term deal with Pickett, thereby eliminating any prospect of a move west by their star young player.

For a few years now, he has been a reliable, hard working pressure forward, but in 2025, Chandler elevated his performance, becoming an integral component of the team with enough versatility to play effectively on a wing from time to time.
