A 3 hour Flight on Business Class won't kill anyone...Cripes the Australian Cricket Team used to sail to England which would take around 6 weeks.

Perth is 5-7 hours away, not 3. Business class or economy, private jet or public, the issue is still the flying, the improper preparation, and the waste of time.

What i think they might want to consider is showing a live clock....hten EVERYONE knows that time's a running out. Ought to make for some real liveliness.

Couldn't think of anything worse. Ten uses the '5 minute warning' in their games and the suspense is fantastic. Like last year, when the scores were level with less than 5 minutes to go.

What is the big deal with Flying?? it is not as if it is done on a daily basis. Fly to melbourne 24-48 hours in advance and play the game.

I bet my balls it would be far worse to lose in extra time after all that previous excertion, than to reload and come back the following week.

No, that would be the general trends of both teams. Collingwood are very strong in first quarters, the stats back that up. They are known for piling pressure on right from the start and often jumping to an early lead.

In contrast, St Kilda win a lot more third and fourth quarters than first and second. So they are a team with grit and determination who can fall behind but, by virtue of a strong defensive team, claw back even when they're 3-4 goals down.

To imply from St Kilda's slow start that they didn't want to win is wrong. That is what you did. If that's not what you meant then fine.

Taking into account not just the physical effects of flying, but also being away from home base, the loss of time, the logistics, the cost?

TU i have done loads of Flying both in Australia and International, and for an interstate Team to Fly to Melbourne by wednesday/Thursday for a Grand Final Replay once i see as a small disadvantage as long as all players are Hydrated and do some stretching when they arrive.

I think the whole domestic Flying disadvantage is way over blown and a very easy crutch for a team to use as an excuse.

Do you think both Wet Coke or Sydney would have been greatly disadvantaged in 2005 or 2006 if either of those GF's had been a draw??

I don't. The Players would have had far more injuries potentially if either game had gone into extra time.

Question?? How many Hammies would have "Pinged" last saturday if the game had gone into extra time?? I am tipping quite a few considering the injury tally that has been reported so far this week...

Solely because its St. Kilda and Collingwood involved my suggestions for this year only is that we treat it like a halved hole in a game of skins and award next years winner 2 cups.
