SC and DT Silverware

The last week of Supercoach and Dreamteam.

Cam Schwab commented earlier in the year, how well Melbourne supporters were doing.

Melbourne has one of the lowest numbers in both forms of the games, but were are doing very well.

We are sitting 2nd (team supported) in both fanasty games, backing up the compliment he paid that Demon Supporters

knew their football. Its probably not everyones cup of tea, but maybe next year we can increase our numbers.

(I;m putting me in the as beginners luck category)

This is my 1st year, I got talked into trying it,up til now I couldnt be bothered with it.

but have enjoyed matching wits etc with others.

I just bombed out in Supercoach, missed the GF by 48 pts. (Ryan O'Keefe (swans) owes me bigtime)

But have marched into The GF in Dreamteam in my League, and a good chance to bring home the Silverware,

(hoping).

I was wondering if anyone else in their leagues, have a chance to hold up the cup?

If so, good luck. Lets bring home the bacon :)

Go Dees!

I'm in the Demonland 2 SC grand final against Unseenchampions.

Enjoyed it this year, managed to hold on to a few trades which is a first for me. I wonder how it's going to be done next year with the bye.

I'm in the Demonland DT league GF, after winning the prelim by 1 point. Sorry to whoever that was...

Haha I love how my attitude changes momentarily whenever that happens.

I won the prelim by 12 points and thought yep fair enough, lost another prelim with the same team by 5 points and felt robbed.

I gave up on SC and DT this year.

I have moved on and up to a better one this year. A draft based system, so no 2 teams can have the same player (per league). It takes a bit of organsing to get the draft done (everyone has to be online at the same time) but it is good fun. There is no salary cap, teams can trade/delist/sign players as their form changes through the year.

Scoring is different also, it is a category based system where the number of stats in each category (Score,SC%,K,HB,M,HO,T,FF,FA) is summed for your entire team. You have to win more categories than the team you play each week to win. So there ends up being a heap of tactics behind who you play when.

Not sure if this breaks posting rules here but the website is www.ultimatefooty.com, it is free and I have no vested interest even though this post reads like an ad.

I would be up for a demonland league next year if there was enough interest.

I would love to do that. I thought games like this had a joining fee, but this sounds good. Certainly to me makes for a much more meaningful set of matches.

I'll start a list and bring this up again in Feb/March next year.

As to the OP I will be playing in the minor GF so I can secure back-to-back 9th spots. I hope to be the Richmond of SC.

I'd be interested to have a go next year.

You can relax,The post wasnt meant to be a free plug for SC or DT either.

I came across something you have posted, but the league was filled. (I was a late starter for SC & DT.)

I was wondering what else was around. It seemed more involved with trading etc.

It looked interesting how it all worked, but I way I was too late,

I was still coming to terms with SC & DT. It might be something I may try when I get bored with the main 2.

The main reason I started the topic, was get to get an idea on how many Demon supporters here were particating.

The other reason, I really didnt think it would appeal to me...... too much time spending working out teams/trades etc

but its not nearly as bad as I imagined,if anyone had the same feelings, they should give it a try.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
