beelzebub 23,392 Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 Respect not finals...Green Good to see they have perspective and rationale. I can understand that many just want to see us playing finals. But theres a time and a place for all things and the necessity of finishing top 8 this year just ( for mine ) isnt one . Lets get the machine runnig right, then take it racing !!
Deeoldfart 8,199 Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 Respect should definately be our objective given our current ladder position and stage of development as a team. Essendon are a young team who played finals last year ....... they are now widely seen as having gone backwards in 2010. I would hate for our team to be seen in that light. We are much better placed in the 'respect stakes' than Essendon, to a large degree because we are methodically following a plan, and we havn't got too far ahead of ourselves. September action will come soon enough if we stick to the plan.
beelzebub 23,392 Posted July 12, 2010 Author Posted July 12, 2010 Playing finals is not the goal...playign finals on the way to winning a premiership is !! It not about making up numbers...its about triumphing !!

I just want to see them continue to improve on the game style and aggression. The rest will take care of itself.
Inner Demon 1 Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 I agree. Leave the dreaming about winning 4/7 games in the run home and stealing 8th to the supporters. I see the point being made in the 'making up numbers' v 'triumphing' argument, but obviously it would be fantastic for our kids to play even 1 game in September.

At least we're guaranteed of playing in September next year. Although it is pending: - http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/07/06/2946340.htm
jnrmac 20,360 Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 Playing finals last year hasn't helped Essendon. In fact there's a reasonable argument that it has hurt them.
45HG 1,559 Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 I think young Brad learnt from his 2007 mistake.
