Hey guys

Well im doing it! IM FINALLY COMING TO THE G!

Was not sure where to post this but wanted as much help as possible as i prepare for this!

After being a supporter since i was in grade 9 i am finally going to the G for the first time! I think....I HOPE!

My youngest brother is turning 21 and we thought as a present we would pay for his return ticket from brissy to melbourne and accommodation!

Some questions

1)We are right for tickets for the game if we are all members? right????

2)We plan to come on Saturday morning and go back to Brisbane Tuesday! so 3 nights. Where do you suggest we stay? REMEMBER we are all either students or unemployed people!

3) We want to participate in the whole queens birthday celebrations like the walk etc.

There is 4 of us coming!

Any other help possible would be great, we are creating a kitty as we speak to help with the costs... If anyone can help in any way that would be fantastic with advice etc.

P.S Sorry i have been a bit inactive with the boards,i have a lot of Tafe and stuff on!

Thanks guys!!!

re: admission, it will depend on your membership, but I'd assume so.

Maybe best to call the club & check first?

Mouse, google YMCA here in Melbourne. I know it sounds a bit naff but would be right for the budget. Leave more to celebrate our win! When you ring the club find out if they are going to have a function after the game even if it is an away game. Have a great time whilst you are here.

Well done for making it to the G.

If you have an interstate membership you will get in on those cards. They allow for five home games so that will surely qualify.

I hope to be down there for that game as well and taking my nephew who lives in Melbourne. I will be staying with them naturally but if I can be of assistance just let me know.

Accommodation I will leave in the hands of those who know. I never have to worry about that fortunately as an ex Melburnian I still have family and friends I can stay with. They come in useful now and then LOL.

Should be a great day and hopefully we get revenge on the Pies that day.

As an aside did you see my post re Qld Demons membership and player sponsorship?

Let us know if you have any trouble getting in.

I may have a spare ticket for the MCC.

Won't know until a few days beforehand though, I'm afraid.

Thanks guys!!!

Regarding--

1)Ringing the club and them fixing me up? How do you mean by fixing me up?

2)DemonDeb- Had a little glance at the player sponsorship but as soon as i see money involved i unfortunately know its not too possible at this time. Being a student is dam hard financially! :(

3) Bail- Yep pretty happy how the bloke is going! My brother is over the moon and when we watch on tv he gets all excited when he gets the ball, pretty cool feeling having a mate play for the club ya love.

Thanks guys so far for your help, will let u know updates

Main thing is to make sure that your membership allows you entrance into the ground so ring the club and explain your predicament to them. They may have some suggestions.

That would be a good thing if it was a home game. Sadly, it's Richmond's home game, so you may have problems getting in on a Melbourne Membership. You could try to convince the ticket sellers to give you a student discount which would put tickets at around $13.50. Not sure what sort of concession cards you will have.

As for accommodation, try these sites for hostels.

Shouldn't be too hard to find something in your price range.

Thanks guys!!!

Thats ok Mousey, I know how tough it is on limited incomes. As a MFC Member tho, you are a Qld Demon so PM me with your email again and I can send you the membership form.

QB is a Melbourne home game so your membership should you get you into that one. An away game is a different story.

Good luck

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.
