Collingwood's 'Side by Side' launched

Featured Replies

Personally, i think Collingwood are responsible for global warming due to all the hot air that comes out of thier mouths

Who says Collingwood supporters cannot post on this forum. It's pure entertainment!

I found it curious that in that entire article (which was huge) their was NO mention of either 'passion' or enjoyment'.

I suspect however, that even though the words weren't mentioned in the article, those ingredients are always there in a team that played reasonably well and above its weight division as Collingwood did this year. Give some credit where it's due.

Collingwood played above its weight division!! HaHa  That's what it does every year, and we opposition supporters are forced to read about it every day!!!

Where should i give the credit,? They already get more than enough.....

Aussie Rob Centre sounds just fine.

That is a badly written story, full of corporate speak. They really are missing sub-editors at The Age.

Given we had 13 players 21 or younger in our PF side (you can add another in Pendlebury), it's quite foolish to say our window will close in 2 years. I would much rather my club set itself for a flag rather than to achieve the priority pick for the 2nd straight year.

Yeah, it's a shame that Collingwood got it's priority picks back in the days when you only had to fail one year. What did they get? Only Fraser, Didak and Pendlebury. Each time with the exact maximum number of wins to still be eligible. Right after playing finals, and strangely back in finals again right away.

Cheaply 'earned' priority picks form the core of Collingwood's competitiveness. Add that to the first class facilties, extended coaching staff at premium wages, and soft fixtures, and it's a sure fire recipe for consistent not-quite-success

If 'modern' Collingwood had any soul left, they'd be routine premiers. Instead they just deliver high-performance failure.

Second half of that artical makes me livid.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
