Jarryd Roughead

Hawthorn want to be active in trade week, can we bait them to get our hands on Roughead?

In an ideal world we would keep picks 1 & 2, but what if Roughead was available?

Hawthorn wants Sandilands, or so the papers would lead us to believe, they also want a key defender. Why can’t Melbourne get involved and get a 22 year old KP forward that will help fast track the development of both Jurrah & Watts?

How’s this for a trade scenario?

Melb get: Roughead & pick 20 (Freo)

Haw get: Sandilands & pick 18 (Melb)

Freo get: Pick 2 (Melb) & Pick 25 (Haw)

Melb: In: Roughead & Pick 20.

Out: Pick 2 & Pick 18.

Haw: In: Sandilands & Pick 18.

Out: Roughead & Pick 25

Freo: In: Pick 2 & Pick 25.

Out: Sandilands & Pick 20.

Could you imagine our forward line? What defence could stop that?

HF: Bate, Watts, Jurrah

FF: Wonaeamirri, Roughead, Green

Message to Melbourne – Talk to Jarryd Roughead now! :D

Would love Roughead at our club....just wont happen....:(

If he leaves the Hawks i think the Gold Coast will target him next year if they lose out to Tippet

Hawks would be the big losers in this deal. Pick No.2 is highly unlikley to be traded.

There is a quick and simple answer to this....

No chance!! ;)

He's a great player, but I can't see this happening. I think we should just hang on to pick 2 as well.

Heard a rumour Roughead wanted out of hawthorn and is linked to melbourne because we have a great crop of rangas

developing and he didnt wanna be left out ;)

first Hodge, now Roughead lets try Franklin. Not happening

exactly right summed it up in one

can we put some realistic trades up, not trades that are imaginary;

thats like us saying where gonna trade jack grimes or aaron davey!!please

Far fetched. Hawthorn lose a full forward - KPF/KPB. A former pick 2. No chance.

Beamer,

The last I heard, Roughead was in contract negotiations with Hawthorn. In trade talk, this makes his name the icing on the trade talk cake.

Davey & Grimes are contracted (i think), if they aren't I"d imagine that they will be attracting some trade gossip.

I'm just throwing it out there people, why can't we ship pick two for a ready made player of Roughead's calibre? If we are able to of course.

Even if we got Roughead we'd have to give up someone like a davey.

Also don't forget about GC17 and West Sydney.

would love roughy..

..but no chance in hell the hawks would trade him

Roughead will never leave anyway. Remember an article not long ago saying how he 'could never play against his mates' or something to that effect.

Next on that list is Ling!

:lol::lol:

This has been covered HERE I think it was Number 12 or even Number 1.

:lol::lol:

Hawthorn will NEVER be involved in a 'win win' situation with another club. They will always have to have the upper hand. They win you lose!!!

They will be prepared to give up Simon Taylor for our number 2 pick & call it a fair deal!!!

Gun premiership winning key forwards in their prime don't go to back to back wooden spoon teams.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

    Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

    Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

    The Demons have the Bye next week but then are on the road once again when they come up against the Gold Coast Suns on the Gold Coast in what could be a last ditch effort to salvage their season. Who comes in and who comes out?

    The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
