Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Just watched Tomorrowland.

Not for kids or adults.

Waste of money and definitely not understandable for kids under 14.

I took my kids to see Mad Max Fury Road on Saturday... didn't need to use the grey matter, but it's a wild ride that made for a very enjoyable couple of hours.

The ad for the new Mission Imp was on and it looked great. Not thought provoking, but good production all the same.

I also noticed there is a trailer for Spectre.

Save money and dont see the new jurassic park.

Jazza I understand that there is this new Jurassic World on this island full of recreated dinosaurs acting for people's entertainment. Apparently the company has created a hybrid dinosaur more energetic than your run of the mill T Rex. But all the controls are in place. So what could possibly go wrong? Can't see how they kept the story going really to produce yet another movie.

Next thing you will tell me is that somehow, something got loose. Hard to believe.

The weirdest thing about the new Jurassic World movie is that it is getting very good reviews with most saying it is finally a sequel worthy of the original first Jurassic Park film. Not sure I'm going to bother though. The next film I'm looking forward to taking a trip to the cinema to see is Ant Man.

I think you will find that there is a customer base of people who have forgotten the old movie and this panders to a new consumer base.

Absolutely horrendous movie.Along with tomorrowland.

Well, I've seen 7 of the 8 movies up for best film at the Oscars - all of them very good or better. Haven't seen Mad Max: Fury Road yet but will hopefully catch that film on the weekend

Anyway, here's the 8 movies with my rating ... keep in mind that my interest in movies is quite eclectic so any genre can appeal no matter what the content. Click on any of the movies for the IMDB link.

The Revenant 9.0 ... cinematography was spectacular in this not-so-classic Western. Really enjoyed this film.

Bridge of Spies 8.5 ... cold war thriller with some great performances from Hanks & Mark Rylance

The Big Short 8.0 ... explains the financial meltdown of 2007/08 in a user-friendly manner with some fine performances from Bale, Gosling & Carell

Room 8.5 ... wow, this movie really was a terrific surprise - a worthy nomination. Brie Larson was quite superlative alongside a marvelous acting performance by Jacob Tremblay.

Brooklyn 8.0 ... one for couples, and very well made. Saoirse Ronan was terrific in this fine film.

The Martian 8.0 ... pure escapism and a lot of fun. A feel-good movie which leaves one well satisfied.

Spotlight 8.5 ... a superb exposé on a story that needed to told. A terrific ensemble cast headed by Michael Keaton & Rachel McAdams.

Mad Max: Fury Road (haven't seen)

And here are all the other nominations in the various categories

"The Revenant" I liked, but to be honest, I much preferred his last film "Birdman"...  the bear scene was extremely well done; exhausting to watch in the same way that Deliverance was exhausting to watch when it first appeared.  Other than that, I just found some of the scenes a little too contrived and I was a little disappointed when the director used the "meteor" in one scene... it must be some sort of metaphor that he has become attached to as he also used it in "Birdman".

In recent times, the films I have given repeat viewings are "Birdman" and "St Vincent"... both excellent vehicles for their aging stars in Keaton and Murray respectively.  Another film I thoroughly recommend is from the French director Jean-Pierre Jeunet (Amelie) called "The Extraordinary Voyage of the Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivett; completely unheralded but an absolutely brilliant film!  I just can't stop watching it over and over.

Also, last night I watched one of the better music BluRays I have seen for a long long time in Elvis Costello's Detour... he is performing for the most part solo to a smallish audience in an opera house in Liverpool and recounting stories regarding how he came up with particular songs, his family life, his father and grandfathers influence on him musically speaking etc etc.  He also brings on two guests in Rebecca and Megan Lovell (on mandolin and lap steel guitar respectively, as well as vocal harmonies) from the band Larkin Poe; together they combine to turn out some of the best versions of EC's songs I have ever heard... uplifting to say the very least.

Went to NZ for a few days (arrived back yesterday) and on the flight back watched "Hunt for the Wilderpeople"... it has to be one of the funniest films I have seen.... ever!  After I saw "What We Do in the Shadows" a couple of years back,. I didn't know how anyone could make a funnier film...but somehow Taika Waititi has managed the feat.  Can't recommend this highly enough (if this film doesn't raise a laugh, then you are officially dead).

Anyone seen "The Voices"?

Ryan Reynolds (gee he has come back hey!?) movie about a man that talks to his evil cat and good dog.  Gets quite dark but i really enjoyed it.

Oh and someone earlier in this thread mentioned DS9, boooo, worst Trek series EVER!  Give me TNG anyday, if only it had 7of9 in it!

I saw Fury Road - it was quite good. I went with my squeezes Son and two of the daughters boyfriends so it was "bro night". I came out of the theatre partially deaf ( and i know loud as i go to heap of live music). I didn't want to appear old so i said nothing. Then one by one they complained of ringing in their ears and how loud it was. It was THE loudest movie I have ever seen. (uncomfortably loud)

How about 'Tommy' in quintaphonic sound at the Athenaeum?  Now that was loud!

I guess it was because Fury Road wasn't music - it was random deafening noise ( a bit like Thy art is murder )

'Tommy' was far too loud for it's genre anyway  ... the loudness served as a distraction.  Maybe other people who were older than me at the time may not have thought that the soundtrack was too loud.

But each to their own I say ... I've never been a Mad Max fan but that's not to say they are bad films.

I liked Mad Max Fury Road, but only saw it on a plane, so I had control of the volume... Really enjoyed it, had low expectations and the previous films never looked interesting to me, but now I'd consider checking them out.

I thought Fury Road was the best Mad Max film after Mad Max 2... really though, the only dud was Beyond Thunderdome.

It was Tina Turner impact. I know - she is a living legend  - but I will be controversial and say that I would rather have my ears and eyes pierced with sharp bamboo stakes than have to listen or look at her.

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P
