Daniel Rich

Watching the Eagles Lions game I couldn't help being impressed by young Daniel Rich in his AFL debut. 21 possessions and 4 tackles was pretty good I reckon. I then thought, "We could have had him!" but then I decided that the wait for Jack Watts and Sam Blease would be well worth it. Come on guys put on some muscle and weight and get into it! Jack is brilliant we know and I think we are going to be thrilled with the sheer speed and foot skills of Sam Blease. Another Bluey Adams or Stan Alves maybe?

Meh, It's not us that should be worrying about Rich. We did what we should of by picking JW. It's WC and Freo who need to be looking at their recruiters.

this is why i said they 'Watts and Blease' should play for Casey this year in an earlier thread. stuff school football. i dont care about previous arrangements. finish year 12 and play for the Scorps. maybe 1-2 games for the Dees towards end of year. coaches have previously stated kids who come from WA/SA are more advanced and adopt quicker to the afl system than kids from Vic

Found space with ease and that left foot is fantastic.

I don't think anyone doubted Rich was a ready made player. The query is whether he has any upside. Leigh Matthews aside, I can't think of a (recent) player who had his frame and size - short and heavy set, at his age, who went on to be a marquee player (which is what you want out of a sub 10 draft pick).

And how successful would Matthews be today? The game is very different.

1 year in a 10-12 year career isn't really that much.

And I'd much prefer that 1 year lost to year 12 than an injury because their bodies aren't ready.

Well summed up.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
