Collingwood cheer squad fanatics sacked, told to reapply

COLLINGWOOD has effectively sacked its entire cheer squad to purge it of so-called troublemakers

Believe it or not, i am going to defend the Collingwood cheersquad of 08. I did a documentary for my university Film and TV course, and one of the fans i interviewed was a mad Pies fan. Naturally, he was also a cheersquad member and so i managed to go into the area to get some really amazing footage for during the games.

Now, they are every bit as feral as everyone says they are, but they love the club. Most of the those who are in the cheersquad are the ones who do the banner making, and i'll be very interested to hear whether the "new" group gets involved at club level like these guys did. The amazing thing for me is the price, how can they expect the blue collar members to afford $800 every year? So while i'm always happy to see Collingwood make asses of themselves, this sort of thing is not good for the game.

Eddie on the rampage....

The filth.......

I love it.

Gadzooks! The filth turning on their more feral members! One of the most extraordinary examples of intra-class discord since Chifley and the miner's strike!

Ha, never thought I'd see the day where the MFC move to Cranbourne and Collingwood introduces a membership that costs near-to twice as much as an MCC membership...And they call us toffs!

Perhaps Carlton's membership cost should be lowered to weed out the crooks

$ 800 to join that lot behind the Goals???? Ha F off i much prefer the MCC with change to buy a MFC Membership. $800 what a joke. Eddie always going on about "We except everyone at Collingwood" Another McGuire lie. Hope it Back fires bad on them. FILTH.

Rumor has it that there is now a minimum IQ of 20 required for application......

At this point the club is not expecting any successful applications and they are opening the positions to Zoo animals which they expect a better set of candidates!

800 bucks....easily joint MFC/MCC membership, as well as a stand alone MFC membership.

800 bucks.....i wonder how many centrelink payments that is

No problem for their teenage fans...the baby bonus more than covers it, it just means a slightly smaller plasma screen.

Can I just say, in a Spike Milligan octave...

*clears throat*

Whooooo Caaaaares!!!!

  • AFLW PREVIEW: West Coast

Epic battle alert.  This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coach’s showdown pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% win rate) against his protégé Daisy Pearce (16 games, 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisy’s record doesn’t yet reflect her impact — but she’s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Dais’ is mythic.  Like Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill her (sporting metaphor) or be her.  Toothers Daisy Pearce is a role model, someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.
