Happy with trade week

Everyone with a club on the bottom of the ladder wants drastic change.

I'm glad (after having convinced myself) that we didn't get recycled players.

"We can no longer accept mediocrity at our club"

again, we need to have a seriouss look at the list and delist anyone who would not make a premiership side (unless they might be needed ie. jamar)

then, we can draft our way to success and have the room to promote some rookie players

we wont rebuild as quickly as hawthorn because we dont have the personnel or the draft oppurtunities (ie. players like crawford and GC17) but we will get there, i have no doubts

Patiance and support is the key to success

forget about quick fixes, or the hope for a tall, lanky, unproven ruckman with no heart for the jumper cant come to the dees

think about maric and grimes five years down the tack

go dees and watch this space

I'm happy we didn't trade.

I wasn't ever going to be to fussed about Green staying or going.

Warnock is overpriced and Prismall has a dodgy knee so we haven't lost all that much.

Prendergast will now be the most important man in the clubs history. He has to keep recruiting young kids and considering what Cameron has done to the club he can make no mistakes because we haven't got the time. If he fails like Cameron we will have no club.

to a bit of a lesser extent but yes, this is a very important time

Delist: Bartram, Carroll, Dunn (unless he gets moved back to the foward line), Meesen (when we can- 2 years i think), get rid of zomer if he hasnt really shown much, elevate valenti and wona, and then rookie draft a couple more.

if we were going through with a fine pick: who would not have made geelongs/hawthorns side...this is who i would get rid of:

bartram

bell

caroll

jamar

newton

?? on zomer/cheney/mcnamara at the moment

I don't know if I'm "happy" we didn't trade... but its certainly better than trading for the sake of trading, which is what we were looking like doing there for a while.

Bailey, and MFC set out with a plan and stuck to it, not getting desperate, or making any knee-jerk reactions.

Trades so rarely work in the favour of the team acquiring the player, and in general, teams like the interstate ones don't trade and they seem to do ok.

What's more important is the training and development of the list we have (and will draft), which Green can help with being so senior, and now, so respected within his club.

Credit where credit is due, Bailey will NOT go for the quick fix.

We really shouldn't be too surprised because it was just Bailey doing exactly what he said he'd do. It shows integrity, something i think we've lacked in the past.

Especially impressed with Hawthorn too, who even though they'd won a premiership and their window is NOW, clearly stuck to their guns with their 'build the club from inside through draft picks' ethos.

Resisting the temptation to go all out for ROK must've been hard, cos i think they could've easily satisfied sydney.

I think in the end that the main issue was Carlton offering more $$$$ than the Hawks so Ryan tried to get there instead.

Happy with Trade week?

I am happy we did not pick up some hacks (Farren Ray was a bargain, for that price I would have been happy with that deal), but I am of the belief that we could have landed another pick between 30-50 which would have given us another shot at a smokey, and helped ease our cap a little.

Should have moved Carroll if there truly was a deal on the table , now we will have to pay him out and add to the whopping debt that is surely to mount. Jamar, CJ should have also been moved, as they are solid but not dominant.

CJ will be more than solid.

Trade week = ANOTHER FAIL!

Trade week in it's current format is a joke in itself!

was it 6 trades that got done in all? Clearly clubs are reluctant to trade, despite all the rumour-mongering. To sheet home the entire blame to the MFC is just bizarre. We have three picks in the top 20 in what is being talked about as a pretty good draft. No-one swapped a 1st round pick - not even for o'keefe! Puts trading and expectations in perspective.

As a club that is currently struggling to be competitive with other teams off the field, I'm quite happy that less and less trades are being done each year. To my way of thinking that means less of our competitors are getting an advantage on us and are similarly relying on the drafts to build a premiership team. The more socialist the system can be, the greater chance we have of winning a flag.

I dont think so.

Well said timD. The lack of perspective is amazing.

Dunn (unless he gets moved back to the foward line)

Who' our tagger? Note you've already got rid of Bartram.

If Dunn can turn himself into a good tagger that also has decent skills, great.

It's rubbish that a player 'of his skill' is 'wasted' tagging - much better than a Godfrey clone.

We would have paid his contract if he'd stayed, so the additional funds are only whatever we pay Carroll's replacement for the duration of Carroll's current contract.

Correct Rogue. You must be sick of stating this time and time again. I believe you would of explained this now for approx. eight times or so...I may have missed a couple of times. ;)

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
