Chip Frawley article

Speedy Demon is proving a chip off the old block

"James Frawley is making strides, literally. A first-round pick in the 2006 national draft at No. 12, the North Ballarat Rebel impressed recruiters by breaking three seconds for the 20-metre sprint at the draft camp. He played nine games on debut in 2007, another seven this year, and has settled into Melbourne life, moving into a St Kilda pad with teammate Jared Rivers, who is his unofficial mentor."

Thanks Alpha, it's a good article. He's now 194cms and has terrific pace. His decision making worries me, but if he can fill into his body and gain confidence he could become a great defender.

I hope so, as Jack Riewoldt, who was taken with the very next pick in his draft, looks very good.

Surely his decision making should improve with added experience and confidence? I agree with his uncle's view that he needs to build up his physical strength which will enable him to better contest the football on the ground and in the air. The same applies to a few of the young blokes at the club.

Will they have state of the art gym facilities available at Casey Fields for summer training?

You don't need state of the art facilities to do a bench press :)

all this state of the art gym bulldust is overhyped.

like Stylus said, don't need a million dollar gym to lift bricks or anything like that.

They'd be better off putting money into things like recovery after games etc

As long as the weights he does work areas of the body that'll use on game day whatever he does is fine

... His decision making worries me, .....

it is getting a bit better..not leaps and bounds stuff..but he seems to be thinking..About what I'm not sure..but there is a light on... needs to brighten a little :)

he is going to be very good player, so is Garland and Warnock plus with Rivers in the back the backline looks good

Looks a solid player. For now a bit weak when in a body on body situation.

Say we were playing Sydney I would rather see him on someone like O'Keefe or a leading forward not a key. Hes very quick off the mark and wouldnt need to much strength to do the job.

Im sure he is, but he really does not SEEm 194cm.. to loka t him, yuo'd say 191, 192 MAX..

He does hunch though...

Looked quite good last week, lets all hope he goes on.. should be interesting!

Who cares?

Leo Barry is 184cm and played full-back in a team that made the grand final 2 years in a row and will give this year a fair shake

Not saying it matters bud,

Just making an observation.. ;)

Well Daniel Bells hasnt so who knows. But i think frawley will be a good player

Don't, don't count on Rivers. sadly.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
