Hayden made 181 and we lost

I hope that wasn't against Bangladesh as well!! :) Haydos had the Creds, but poor old Charles...

New Zealand 07

He was on the decline by then!!! i gotta look up Charles on Wiki-that is a sad Tale! :)

Qld 8-174.

Surprised you can't believe it HT - that's the norm up there

Yeah, but 104 ? And were 7/33 ?! Terrible.

Wow, that must be a wet spongy wicket!!!

2 more scalps tomorrow....

Yeah, see, always take note of the wicket and conditions as well as the forecast when deciding the toss WYL. There's more evidence right up your alley.

Sachin Tendulkar has just scored the highest score for a male in One-Dayers. He is currently 195 not out with India 3/345

So what is the highest for female in One Dayers ? :P;)

Belinda Clarke - 224 from memory

Unbelievable stuff from Tendulkar. The man knows no limits.

Queensland 9/209. Hartley's out, but we've only got 42 runs to play with, so we need to wrap this up quickly. This Swan guy seems to be pretty capable with the bat. Gotta win this.

Edit: Not good. 9/226. 32 run partnership already. Ach, this is going to be close...

Edit: Rain delay now! 9/231, this is going to go down to the wire.

Edit: This is over now I feel: 9/241

Edit: It's over! 9/252. A 58 10th wicket partnership between their number 10 and 11s gets them the win, our first outright Shield loss in a couple of years, and they close the gap. Bad loss, really. Why McDonald didn't bowl himself I'll never know.

9/244. Come on Vics!

Sorry to ruin it for you 45. You following on Cricinfo? For some reason they don't do Shield matches, so they take scores off cricket.com.au

Points Table:

Victoria 8 4 1 0 3 0 30

Queensland 8 4 1 0 3 0 26

Tasmania 8 2 2 0 4 0 17

South Australia 8 2 3 0 3 0 16

New South Wales 8 2 3 0 3 0 14 1

Western Australia 8 1 5 0 2 0 12

So whilst we're already guaranteed to make the final (Tasmania can only get 12 points max from their last 2 games), we could well end up second, and thus playing the final in Brisbane.

Last 2 games are vs Western Australia at the WACA and Tasmania at the MCG. We're going to be down on numbers for both matches, but you'd still back us in to win both.

Edit: This is our first loss in a 4-day game since the 3-6 March 2008 vs Western Australia.

:(

Cannot believe their last wicket stand. It's a sad day.

On the bright side they can still secure a home final. Now they've got to get up for the one-dayer on Sunday. This loss may have knocked the stuffing out of them though. I heard Clint McKay talk before, they're shattered.

C'mon VICS....I want them to get the clean sweep.

2 Pakistani cricketers under investigation for Match Fixing the recent Sydney Test Match.

This could be a massive story...Cricket is in trouble sadly.

Anyone seen the Aussies & Kiwi's play that Twenty/20 on that ground last night which resembles the size of a postage stamp ?

McCullum went nuts.

What a T20!

First there was McCullum's 116*, second highest score ever and only the second century in T20s. Some of those 'Dilscoops' he played were phenomenal, some came of Tait bowling at 155km/h!

Then we had White hit 64* off just 26, as we chased down 214.

And then we had Southee bowl yorker after yorker, first in the regular game, then in the super-over.

Johnny Howard to be the head of ICC.

How depressing..that little [censored] back in the spot light...it's just wrong.

If soccer is boring, what do people make of cricket.

If you count how much time the ball is actually in play/live, you might get a good 20 minutes of action a day. Not bad. Sit for 7 hours for one day and watch 20 minutes of action. Multiply that to 5 and happy days when you get a draw.

Def unpredictable results in cricket too. Shocked we squeezed past the Windies and Chokeistan.

And here we were thinking that the West Indies were on the path to improvement...

They've just been beaten by Zimbabwe. Yes, Zimbabwe. A team that plays the majority of its cricket against Bangladesh. Not to mention having no functioning home, and very few international-quality players. And the Windies had Benn, Chanderpaul and Gayle back in their team.

Hopefully in the Test arena they remain competitive, but their recent ODI and T20 matches have been abysmal.

Vics lead by 19 runs in 2009/10 Sheffield Shield against WA.

Vics are 3/94 (1st innings 199) after bowling WA out for 274.

Jewell 36*

McDonald 10*

Go Vics. Need outright win (max. points) to host final against QLD.

We're in massive trouble now. 5/133, a lead of only 58 runs.

Losing Hussey to the third ball of the day hurt. Losing Jewell and McDonald as well has basically killed us.

We desperately need Quiney, Wade and Hastings (very much an improved all rounder who may find himself playing for Australia soon) to get our lead to 200. Hopefully our bowlers can make some inroads, because we need the 6 points from this match.

!!! (Carp)

I'd back Wade to be a nuisance for WA, he shows a bit of G&D in the middle. Fingers crossed. If they can somehow get to a lead of 175+, it's game on.

Well, well, well. Wade is in fact being a nuisance for WA it turns out. Our lead now currently 157 runs with :-

Wade 60* (not out) 9 x 4's ; 1 x 6.

Hastings 29* (not out)

Go Vics.

edit: we've lost our 7th wicket. 7/262. Lead is now 192 runs !! at Drinks.

and Damien Wright is cutting lose. 30 off 19 balls with 5 fours and 1 six.

Wade 65 runs

Wright 30 runs

at this stage fingers crossed for a lead of 230+..??

Not exactly sure how my post was 'carp'. When you lose your 5th wicket, and you lead by just 50 runs, that's not a good position to be in. Considering our last two innings have been for scores of 199 and 104, things weren't looking good.

Wade and Wright obviously fixed things for us, and brilliant they were. To get to 378 after being 5/111 was a sterling effort. Pity neither got to 100 though.

Think of the situation we were in and HT's emotion towards the situation...

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
