I went to the game early today to watch a very entertaining Vic metro V Vic Country U18 championship, I made notes on some interesting players but dropped my record. Paying particular attention to what we need KPP I noted three good prospect and another developing player

Hurley no 18 Vic Metro has sensational foot skills played at full back and I didn't see his opponents get a kick. Has leader written all over him didn't get a lot of it but when he did was composed and hit targets.

Watts No 4 Vic Metro took a great pack mark at the end of the game went back and kicked the winning goal just before the final siren. Good Mark and kicks well.

McKernan No 8 or 9 Vic Metro Cory's younger brother, played in the ruck and rucked well but will be to small at AFL level but he moves well took some good marks.

Rockliff No30 or 33 for Vic Country but was their best KPP.

Roughead for Vic Country looked OK along with Sidebottom.

Heyne (I Think) No 20 Vic Country, took what would be mark of the round if he was playing AFL this week a one handed screamer, moves well more like a HFF than KPP.

If you want speed draft Zaharakis.

Someone raw was I think No 20 or 30 from Vic Metro tall blond, natural athlete needs to work on his skills but has good potential.

I liked the run of Blease, & the pace & play of Zaharakis. McKernan looks like a forward more than a ruck to me. I wanted to see Hurley but didn't see enough of him to make any judgement.

I saw him today and if Naitanui and Rich are ahead of him for picks 1 & 2 in the draft they must be damn good. Watts has something special about him and Blease has the pace that I'd like to see added to our midfield.

Correct me if I'm wrong but he's 192cm and about 88kg.

That's about the same as what Darren Glass was when he was drafted.

"Hurl" as his team mates called him [unimaginative bunch - at least call him Wayne - wayne's world, you'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll hurl] looks a very solid player.

Considering he is still in the U18's he is plenty big enough and I think will mature into a very very strong man. He has a commanding presence in the backline and was especially impressed by his kicking skills on both feet.

One to watch.

Watt also looks a good prospect.

As much as I want to get the first pick I don't think we'll 'win' it, we're starting to play some good footy and have played most of the better teams. So I think we could end up with this guy.

Hurley is going to be a 250 game champion KPP.

S. McKernan will be a gun. Better than his brother.

Heyne has a touch of class and flair but looks like he could go missing.

Scully will be a gun mid but isn't eligible.

Rockliff is a nice mark and kick, but looked a little under sized. How tall is he ? Appearances can be deceiving and I could be wrong about his size. He's a very nice looking player.

Hurley didn't impress me like I was expecting to be impressed. He played on resting ruckmen up forward so he didn't have much to beat. His kicking skills are very good and he appears composed, but what role would he play at AFL level? I would want him to play on running forwards (ie, talls that lead) before making any call on him because I'm not sure how good his athleticism is. As a strong body I would have liked him to play on the more mobile Rockliff rather that playing on chumps.

On the other hand, Watts was very impressive. Really lead well at the ball, seemed to have good speed and very good hands. More of an AFL style of player. Was very impressed with his kicking too.

Also impressive, to me, was Sidebottom. I thought his class, hands and decision making were excellent.

It's my first time seeing a lot of these players, though.

You're right. Corey was sensational before he became a dud. His best didn't last long enough unfortunately.

His younger brother looks very very good.

PS - why don't you join Bomberblitz ? I'm sure you'd find it far more rewarding.

I was pleased with Blease then, & hope now he can run & deliver.
