  1. Sounds like a big order of New Years resolutions Uncle! Good luck. Me, I have resolved to sign up to Feb Fast next year to give my liver a rest. That will really be a test. Merry Christmas to one and all.

All I can say Mr Moons is that both you and Uncle are skirting with contempt by breach of a court order! And for the record if Mr Redleg is correct and a certain person does visit this site, it is all just false MeToo scuttlebutt from the 70’s no less! Who can remember what they did in the 70’s?

Oh contrare my good Uncle, may Sir Shane get his knighthood for his trifling 700 plus test wickets, so be it to keep the masses amused. Please keep this information to yourself at all costs. I have been informed by a reliable source within the Palace that I will be recognised at some stage in the new year! The Royal whisper is that there are vacancies in the Royal Order of the Garter no less, members selected exclusively by Her Majesty, not the Parliamentary rabble ! Think about that for a moment, perhaps there will be a touch more respect in your tone from now on!

I received mine today and while it is obvious that the club would have gone to great lengths to prioritise the delivery of my membership package I ask you all to be patient, the ordinary packages are on their way to you all.
  5. Yes I am blaming the Royal Antediluvian Order of the Buffoles (RAOB) myself!
  6. What is the secret then?
  7. I have high aspirations for Joel. Can he play the running game on the wing a la Isaac Smith?
  8. Petracca left knee issue, physio’s had a look and he is off to the rooms. Looked like just a niggle, no details.

So who won the main bout?
  10. Not so sure, RC played a tennis coach in the TV series I Spy with Bill Cosby as the tennis pro. But played a great cameo in Get Smart as a Turkish waiter in an I Spy spoof episode. Very funny. Not sure he could actually play tennis? I would say god d actor, not so good player.
  11. Looks like you are voting informal then Pro!

I think this can work. First create 2 more expansion teams to make 20 and divide into 2 conferences of 10. New teams would be playing out of Dubbo and Kalgoorlie. Compromise the draft for the next 5 years with priority picks for the Dubbo Quolls and the Kalgoorlie Miners. Each conference plays each other twice, to get 18 rounds. Top 4 from each conference play off, 1 v 4, 2 v 3. Then winners play off to be conference champions. That’s 23 rounds, then we have a best of 3 AFL World Series Grandfinal playoff. Can’t go wrong with this formula surely!
  13. Hey Jackaud, just checking, are you taking the pizz with your wonderful World statement? Wonderful world for some, no doubt, not too Flash for a lot of non human species living in the ever diminishing wild parts of this planet.
  14. Yes I like the team but hope we can weave in Preuss and Vanders into our best 22 as I would love us to be a physically intimidating team that can match it with the best sides in talent as well. A lot of premierships have been won by nasty sides who blend mongrel with talent.

And me as well and I would add DC and maybe Moons, not sure about the others though!
  16. Gee we were done over by the umpires in the bits I watched. What was the free kick count? Is it too late to complain to the Umpy Department?
  17. After preparing for ultimate success in 1989, and then very confidently after 1994 and again post 2000 and even post 2002 I don’t take any previous years form as a guide for the next! Injuries, complacency have always intervened. I hope our club has indeed changed and can build on previous success.
  18. Steve Smith? Tony Campbell?

Forget the Shiraz, try the Malbec. In the interests of uplifting this thread as Ernie has been imploring recently, I thought the various Legal Eagles who inhabit this thread might be interested in this set of books I stumbled upon in a Jesuit library in Córdoba, Argentina today while taking a short break from my arduous wine tasting duties. The books date from the early 1700’s and were part of a library of 10,000 books, some stretching back to when printing first began. Unfortunately when the Jesuits were kicked out of South America in 1754 many of the books on science and philosophy were burned by the Franciscians as they were deemed to be heretical!

    Have you taken something DC?
  21. Oscar plays off scratch and recently won the AFL longest drive comp with a drive of 292m. What is May’s handicap that’s what I need to know!
  22. I hope so we need a decision from Hoges pronto!
  23. No not pushed out the door, more the case that he would not commit to an extension beyond 2019 so we are moving early as you say while the price is right. Not because he struggles for distance on kicks for heavens sake. You pass on a potential 60 goal a year key position forward at your own peril and certainly not for a gorilla marking backman a la Sam May by choice. I think the FD believe he is going if not this year, then next year.
  24. Yes this possibility crossed my mind as well. I haven’t followed all the media discussions closely enough but with Josh Mahoney saying that we couldn’t get May unless Hogan decides to go and Hogan supposedly only recently asking if a trade back home was possible this year and then hearing that the Club has spoken to May on two occasions already.....well something doesn’t seem to add up! I think the club put it on Hogan to extend his contract past 2019 now and if he didn’t commit they decided to act.

I went to Swinburne Institute of Technology in the 70’s studying engineering and there was a Scrimshaw there who had played a few games with Hawthorn or Richmond. Can’t recall his first name but wonder is Jack a son or nephew?
